The latest forum competition, this time it’s for the US (Tennis) OPEN: PLEASE ENTER ON THIS THREAD
Sorry it’s so late – gathering the information took much longer than it should have and some of it came through a bit late.
This is how it works:
There are 12 sections You have to pick 1 player, score, round, or number (depending on which section) for each one. The scores for each selection are listed below.
Just put the letters A to L with your choice for each - preferably going downwards, followed by a tie-break answer.
There is a prize, which Betfair have kindly donated – a total of £100 in Sportsbook bets.
This will be broken down into 3 prizes, £60, £30 and £10, for the top 3 competition finishers.
In the event of ties, a tiebreak will come into effect so there should be an absolute winner (and 2nd & 3rd).
The Sections: and some details/clues/history
A. What round will Maran Cilic reach – or Will he win?
In his 9 appearances at the US Open, he’s reached R1, R2, R3, R4, QF twice and SF twice and WON once.
Choose from R1, R2, R3, R4, QF, SF, F, Win.
2 points for being right.
B. How many of the top 16 Mens seeds will make the last 16?
Choose from 0 to 16
4 points for being spot on, 2 points if 1 out, 1 point if 2 out.
C. How many of the top 16 Womens seeds will make the last 16?
Choose from 0 to 16
4 points for being spot on, 2 points if 1 out, 1 point if 2 out.
D. What will the score be in the 2nd set of the 1st round match between Gael Monfils and Jeremy Chardy. Put Monfils’s score 1st
So a score from 0-6 through to 6-0 (not forgetting 7-6 or 6-7) with the 1st number being the number of games scored by Monfils in the 2nd set of this match
3 points if correct, 1 point if 1 out.
E. Will previous winners win the Tournaments (Men’s singles, Womens singles, both or Neither
Previous winners taking part are: Men: Cilic, Federer, Del Potro, Murray & Nadal. And Women: Kerber, Kuznetsova, Sharapova, & Williams (V)

F. How many Games will be played in the Womens final – in total?
Choose from: 12 to 39 The last 4 finals have provided 29, 21, 18, 32. games
4 points if correct, 2 points if wrong by 1 and 1 point if wrong by 2
G. How many RUSSIAN WOMEN will get to the last 8 of the Ladies singles:
There are 11 Russian players in the main draw currently (none in the 7th 8th yet – If you get what I mean unless a qualifier gets in there). They are: Alexandrova, Blinkova, Kusatkina, Kuznetsova, Makarova, Pavlyachenkova, Rodina, Sharapova, Vesnina, Viklhlyantseva, Zhuk
Unless I’m mistaken - which is quite possible – 2 of them are seeded.

H. How many of the 32 Mens seeds will be Knocked out in the 1st round
Choose from: choose from 0 - 32
4 points to correct predictions, 2 if out by 1, 1 point if out by 2.
I. How many of the 32 Womens seeds will be Knocked out in the 1st round
Choose from: choose from 0 - 32
4 points to correct predictions, 2 if out by 1, 1 point if out by 2.
J. How many of the 12 players whose surname begins with a B will still be in the mens singles in Round 3?
This is the full list, I don’t think there are any qualifiers beginning with a B who can still be added: but, IF I HAVE MISSED ANY OUT OR ANY FURTHER PLAYERS WHOSE NAMES BEGIN WITH A ‘B’ ARE ACTUALLY TAKING PART THEY WILL COUNT

L. Which of these 10 players will progress furthest in the womens singles? Cibulkova, Ostapenko, Kvitova, Mladenovic, Keys, Sevastova, Vesnina, Garcia, Pavlyuchenkova, Vandeweghe (seeds 11-20)

TIEBREAK :
How many Aces will there be in the Mens final? Previous finals 2012 – 2014 (I can’t find the stats for the last 2) yielded 12, 11 and 9.

E&OE – Any ties in any sections, points shared; (eg, if the score is 2 points for 3rd, 1 point for 4th, and there's a tie for 3rd, both will score 1.5)
If I’ve made any glaring errors, please let me know, and if they can be rectified or sorted, I’ll do my best to sort it.
The organiser's (that's me) decision is final. I'll try to update scores and standings at the end of each Section’s completion.

A depleted forum - sometimes hard to get on to It's the US Tennis Open which is always the quietest competition anyway. The threads weren't stuck to the top. SO. As there are only 29 entrants, I won't put the trends or other details. I'll just post the entire entry grid. This is the biggest chance any of us have ever had of winning a prize. Some bad weather on day 2 held things up a bit. But things are happening: Section D: Gael Monfils won the 2nd set v Jeremy Chardy 6-3 on his way to a straight sets win. So that's 3 points if you said 6-3, 1 point for 6-2 or 6-4 At least 8 seeds have gone from both the mens and womens 1st round and the 1st round is still being played! Loads for you to keep watch on. Some of the 'names' are falling by the wayside. The 'B' men are not exactly covering themselves in glory but the Russian women are doing marginally better. Although the highest seeded previous women's winner is out (Kerber) another previous champ, (Sharapova) beat the 2nd seed!
