The shamdemic is small potatoes compared to a sitting president treasonously using the organs of state to influence a presidential election. People have hanged for less.
...... 'Another beauty' Sopel, only got as far as the fake news of The Donald moving the bust of MLK and replacing it with Churchill, that story had to be walked back by its author Zake Miller of Time magazine on day one of The Donald taking up office, thats how long ago the biased main stream media, the enemy of the people and democracy have been spouting non stop lies against the 45th POTUS. |

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump tangled the facts when he asserted Tuesday at a White House Rose Garden event that “Obamacare” raised prescription drug costs for older people — the opposite is true.
Trump also misfired by taunting Democratic presidential rival Joe Biden for supposedly being soft on drug prices. Biden supports Medicare negotiations to lower prices, similar to what Trump called for as a Republican candidate in 2016 but later set aside. TRUMP: “In the past, Obamacare prevented insurance providers from competing to offer lower costs for seniors. There was no competition, there was no anything, and they ran away with what took place, and the seniors were horribly hurt.” THE FACTS: The Affordable Care Act actually reduced out-of-pocket prescription costs for seniors. Nor did it prevent insurers from competing to offer lower costs. President Barack Obama’s law reduced what seniors had to pay back then by gradually closing the “doughnut hole,” a notorious coverage gap in Medicare’s popular “Part D” prescription drug plan. A 50% discount that Obamacare secured from drug makers on brand name medicines yielded an average savings of $581 in 2011 for seniors with high drug costs, according to an analysis at the time by Medicare’s nonpartisan Office of the Actuary, for The Associated Press. On top of that, the ACA directed Medicare to pick up more of the cost of generic drugs, saving an additional $22. On the claim that Obamacare stifled insurer competition, there's no evidence that was the case. “Given the large number of Medicare prescription drug plans available to seniors, it is not clear how the Obama administration prevented insurers from competing with each other,” said Tricia Neuman, a Medicare expert with the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation. Neuman cited statistics for 2012, midway through the Obama years, when the average number of Medicare Part D drug plans ranged across regions from a low of 25 to a high of 36 — more than enough to facilitate healthy competition. ___ TRUMP: “So we’re getting it down — $35 per month ... So it’s a massive cut — I guess, 60, 70%. Nobody has seen anything like this for a long time. Sleepy Joe can’t do this — that, I can tell you.” THE FACTS: Actually, Biden wants to do much more. The Democratic presidential candidate supports allowing Medicare to negotiate prices with drug makers, restricting price increases to the inflation rate and limiting launch prices for new drugs that face no competition. |

Fox News host Dana Perino asked Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh on Wednesday what President Donald Trump seeks to gain by falsely claiming MSNBC host Joe Scarborough murdered someone.
Perino brought up that baseless conspiracy theory while discussing Trump’s feud with Twitter over its decision to attach a warning about the accuracy of his tweets blasting mail-in voting. However, the platform declined to remove or flag Trump’s other tweets suggesting that Scarborough ― a fierce Trump critic and former Republican congressman ― may have killed 28-year-old Lori Klausutis when she worked as a staffer in his Florida office. An autopsy concluded Klausutis’ 2001 death was an accident; she had an undiagnosed heart condition that caused her to faint and she hit her head on a table. “How does this help the president win an election in November?” Perino asked. Murtaugh claimed Trump’s supporters “like the way the president expresses himself on Twitter because, they say, ‘Here’s a guy who finally says the things out loud that I’m thinking myself.’” “He is who he is, and I don’t think that there are too many Americans who are not familiar with the way that he uses Twitter,” Murtaugh added. “So I think all of that is already calculated in when Americans will choose their president this coming November.” Klausutis’ widowed husband, Timothy Klausutis, implored Twitter to remove the tweets about his wife in a letter to CEO Jack Dorsey last week. He said Trump had taken “the memory of my dead wife and perverted it for perceived political gain.” “Does it give you any pause about the widower of the young woman who is asking the president to stop because he says it is sullying her memory unnecessarily?” Perino asked her guest. Murtaugh, claiming first that “we feel for the grieving family,” attempted to justify the president’s behavior because of his grudge with Scarborough. |

The unemployed you talk of are mostly hospitality workers, restaurant, hotel, bar, night club staff etc. which are not steady secure jobs and are the last to be allowed to open due to the social distancing rules that are still in place.
Once this social distancing rule has gone, most will be back in employment again. |

Twitter has added an unprecedented warning to a Trump tweet, warning users that the post "glorifies violence".
The message was added to a post in which Mr Trump seemed to threatened that people protesting against the death of an unarmed black man in custody could be shot. "This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about glorifying violence," the message reads. "However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible." The decision comes as Mr Trump signed a new executive order on social networks. Mr Trump's announcement that social media companies would be more strictly regulated came after Twitter placed a different warning on another of his posts, which fact-checked the claim that mail-in voting would lead to widespread fraud. Adding the warning is likely to cause yet more animosity between Twitter and Mr Trump, who has ramped up his attacks on the social network since the fact-checking messages were displayed. It is the first time that Twitter has applied such a warning to the president's tweets. Twitter has said in the past that other potentially violent tweets – such as posts appearing to threaten North Korea with nuclear war – would stay visible on the site becuase they are "newsworthy", despite the fact they would otherwise be judged to have broken the sites rules. As well as showing a message above the tweet whenever it appears in a users' feed, the decision means that people will not be able to reply or retweet the post. "We have placed a public interest notice on this Tweet from Donald Trump," Twitter said in a post on its official feed. "This Tweet violates our policies regarding the glorification of violence based on the historical context of the last line, its connection to violence, and the risk it could inspire similar actions today. "We've taken action in the interest of preventing others from being inspired to commit violent acts, but have kept the Tweet on Twitter because it is important that the public still be able to see the Tweet given its relevance to ongoing matters of public importance. "As is standard with this notice, engagements with the Tweet will be limited. People will be able to Retweet with Comment, but will not be able to Like, Reply or Retweet it." Twitter's thread was retweeted by chief executive Jack Dorsey, who is reported to have been consulted on the plan to add the warning before it happened. Mr Trump's original post had used the phrase "the shooting starts" and made repeated references to the military, appearing to suggest that protesters could be shot if they continued to protest. "I can’t stand back & watch this happen to a great American City, Minneapolis. A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right," he wrote. "These THUGS are dishonoring the memory of George Floyd, and I won’t let that happen. Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!" |

President Donald Trump’s repeated suggestion that media critic Joe Scarborough killed an aide is not only shocking to many Americans and even members of his own party, it could end up costing him a fortune if he’s sued over the hurtful comments, warned a legal expert.
For all of Trump’s past vicious insults against opponents and critics, this time his “wantonly cruel attacks” are “distinctive,” Yale emeritus law professor Peter H. Schuck wrote Thursday in an op-ed in The New York Times. His Scarborough attacks “may constitute intentional torts for which a civil jury could award punitive damages against him” — and he could be sued for his actions while still in the White House, Schuck warned. Trump has repeatedly indicated on Twitter that Scarborough, co-host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” had something to do with the 2001 death of intern Lori Klausutis, who worked in his Florida office when he was a Republican congressman. “The president has offered no evidence for this slander, because there is none,” wrote Schuck. “He has not cited any evidence to support his calumny either before the tweets or in response to the backlash since then.” The medical examiner ruled the death an accident, determining that Klausutis suffered a fatal head injury after fainting due to an undiagnosed heart condition. Her widower, Timothy Klausutis, earlier this week pleaded in a letter to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey to remove Trump’s “horrifying lies” that were causing her family pain. The president is now vulnerable to court actions for “intentional infliction of emotional distress, which the courts developed precisely to condemn wanton cruelty to another person who suffers emotionally as a result,” noted Schuck. This “readily applies to Mr. Trump’s tweets about Ms. Klausutis. They were intentional and reckless, and were ‘extreme and outrageous’ without a scintilla of evidence to support them. And they caused severe emotional distress — the protracted, daily-felt grief described in Mr. Klausutis’s letter.” But he may have grounds to sue for defamation because Trump’s attacks may “seriously harm” Scarborough’s reputation, according to Schuck. Because of a 1998 ruling in favor of Paula Jones in her sexual harassment suit against President Bill Clinton, lawsuits by both Klausutis and Scarborough “could proceed” against Trump “while he is still in office,” wrote Schuck. Suits could likely be brought in any state — and because the tweets had nothing to do with Trump’s “presidential responsibilities, he probably could not hide behind an assertion of executive privilege,” noted Schuck. ![]() |

@realDonaldTrump · 5h “Regulate Twitter if they are going to start regulating free speech.” @JudgeJeanine @foxandfriends Well, as they have just proven conclusively, that’s what they are doing. Repeal Section 230!!! Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump · 5h “The President has been targeted by Twitter.” @MariaBartiromo What about all of the lies and fraudulent statements made by Adam Schiff, and so many others, on the Russian Witch Hunt Plus, Plus, Plus? What about China’s propaganda? WHO’s mistakes? No flags? @foxandfriends Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump · 6h Twitter is doing nothing about all of the lies & propaganda being put out by China or the Radical Left Democrat Party. They have targeted Republicans, Conservatives & the President of the United States. Section 230 should be revoked by Congress. Until then, it will be regulated! So, nothing about the 100,000+ covid deaths, nothing about George Floyd, suppose there were good people on both sides. |
