If you moved to Somalia aged 8, how do you think your language skills would fair in comparison ? He is effectively communicating with halfwit journalists in his second language, who bring up drugs and Salazar at every single opportunity, why would it surprise anyone he was curt with the media, they have nothing on him, he's passed every single test and they don't like it, they've had the winning on the track at the Olympic story, the journey from Mogadishu story, they got bored of it, and now it's time to bring him down, that's their line of work, prostituting their souls in pursuit of money, these 'journalists' don't understand what pure physical and mental hard work is, so they question anyone that is successful, they don't know what it's like to put yourself from the physical and mental torture Farah has done to make it to the top, they also don't know what it's like to not see your family for 6 months of the year and to miss their kids birth. They get their accreditation, watch World class elite Athletics for free, have their flights, food and accommodation paid for them by their organisations and effectively leach off of the sports stars to make a career/living for themselves, yet at the very same time try to destroy them when the time is right for them.
By all means interrogate the ones posting spontaneously silly times, the one's who have failed tests but still win races at 35, the one's who have sudden spikes in performances, by there is no need to harass and harangue CONSTANTLY athletes who have passed every test, answered every drug related question before over several years, over and over again, and expect for no anger or level of annoyance to build up over time before eventually over spilling into outbursts, good on Mo for standing up for himself. He was not born to be a media star or to have great 'communication skills', he is not a PR wh0re, personality wise he's an ordinary person who has never flaunted himself on an endless array of braindead reality TV shows or Chat show appearances, he's kept them to a minimum and himself largely to himself.
Some people have different talents in life, some are good at writing, some are good at talking, and some are good at running, bullshit talks and money walks, my money has always been on Mo, a Great Briton

Thought Mo came across well at his interview. Had a go at certain journalists but nothing nasty in his remarks. He has had to suffer a lot of innuendo in the media and responded correctly.

Our media love to go on about the drugs but if they want a level playing field then surely our athletes shouldn't receive lottery funding and endorsements. If every athlete received the amount of money per season for coaches and equipment I would love to see how high we get up the Olympic medal table.

Is this the British Sir Mohamed Muktar Jama Farah whose first name has been conveniently shortened to Mo to take the emphasis off his real first name Mohamed by vested interests, who moved to Britain at the age of 8 to take advantage of all that Britain had to offer and moved to Portland, Oregon, USA in 2014. Yep- certainly a true Brit!

Yet, it's very similar to articles a dozen years ago and instead of Mo Farah, the subject was Lance Armstrong.
Everybody wants to know what I'm on. What am I on? I'm on my bike busting my ass six hours a day.
(I'm a Mo Farah fan, by the way)

I think the only thing better than watching great British athletes like Mo win again and again is seeing some of our compatriots squirming as they try to rain on his parade without being too overt in their beliefs.

Slicer, yes this is the British Mo Farah who grew up in this country and has lived the majority of his life here. This is the Mo Farah whose father was born here, lives his life here and is a British citizen. This is the Mo Farah who moved to the U.S to try to become the best in the world at his job. It takes a certain kind of narrow minded thinking to hold moving to the U.S against him.

Born in SOMALIA..missed TWO drug tests before the London Olympics and now pays his taxes in the USA.A British passport of convenience if ever there was one.

Nothing to do with being black. It IS galling to see athletes, cyclists, well paid pop stars and their ilk getting knighted for things that they are trained and paid to do. The award of a knighthood should be for bravery ONLY a la Sir Francis Drake etc.

Nothing to do with being black? Of course it isn't and it would be scurrilous to imply that! Sorry if I gave the impression that some people on here are ignorant racists. I wish to clarify that everyone on here is whiter than white and damn good eggs too!
I know you boys cheer on athletes representing the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern ireland regardless of their skin colour

Well I remember that Saturday the second one at the Olympics. Can't remember who won what but it was one helluva day/night! Can't remember the skin colour of any of the athletes except Mohammed Farah but everyone was amazing. A great night in the British sporting pantheon of which there are many.

Sir Mo Farah wants to be known as "Mohamed" when he takes on the Great North Run next month after bowing out of his track career. The 34-year-old claimed a silver medal in his last major track championship race in London, finishing behind Ethiopia's Muktar Edris in the 5,000 metres on Saturday night. Farah is now switching his focus to road racing - beginning with the Great North Run on September 10 - and wants it to be a fresh start, with the four-time world champion ditching "Mo" to become known as "Mohamed". He said: "My road name is Mohamed. I just feel like Mo is done. I need to forget about what I've achieved and what I've done."

I was very surprised when he was just starting out and all these years that he did not tell everyone to call him muhammad as it is supposed to be offensive to true believers of islam. Maybe he is doing it now as he has had pressure brought to bear on him?

I agree with Dr Slicer who agrees with Harry Ferguson to an extent. True British legends would stick a finger up to authority and turn down a knighthood. Sport has gold medals, film directors have Oscars, musicians have the Brits. None of them need a government committee financed under threat of taking you to court to decide you should be looked up to.
Or down to if you are Robbie Grabarz.
Not many would turn down a knighthood though - you're just too young at that age to know better.
Peter Higgs turned one down. But I suppose if you've predicted the discovery of God's particle, the Queen doesn't cut it.

A parting shot at someone who has already indicated that he is logging off is not particularly brave is it Breedingmad! Wiping the floor is such an aggressive term and it is the usual response from those who can't debate or discuss without threats and insults! In all the years I been on here, I have never insulted anyone. I did threaten legal action once though! For your information, the day you wipe the floor with me is the day I give up on BetFair! Mr Bongo-thanks for your support.

Btw despite defending farah from the constant snide innuendo over drug taking from the media I have to agree with some of your comments Slicer. I read that he now wants to be known as Mohammed. Could have been worse had he followed the trend and asked to be known as Monica.

ISLAM...(previous post) whats not to like about it? Our liberalised left wing celebs, etc seem to be in some sort of thrall to Islamic religious hard core mumbo jumbo, so why not give it a shot (or stab as it where)?
Lets try Sharia Law in this country for 6 months or a year or so. Lets take all the murderers currently in prison and hang them. Not a bad idea and what a saving on taxes. Lets take all the rapists currently in prison and do the same. Homosexuals and lesbians could all be thrown off the nearest high-rise... there'd be an awful lot of bodies but hey ho, its the law. All women banned from the work place and from the roads as drivers. Woohoo! More jobs for the boys and less dopey birds trying to park and navigate roundabouts. All education for women ended at 13... what a huge saving on education costs. All women in burkhas outside the house and walking behind their man. Divorce... easy as pie with no financial burden on the poor hubby. The more you think about it... these liberal types have got it spot on. Bring it on. Whats the downside? There is none. Less murderers, rapists, friends of dorothy and rupert, more jobs for the lads, more women in the kitchen/bedroom, fewer mooses walking the streets, paradise. Allah Akbar LaughLaughLaugh
Rockiron's post pick the bones out of this BM !

The point is the Crusaders didn't do their job properly. They murdered and raped their way through the Middle East and btw they got a good kicking too. By and large they were a bunch of thugs the fore runners of modern day football fans and nazis in America!

Not interested in his skin colour but Mo has been successful due to East African genes. Therefore I can't get too patriotic about him.
Virtually impossible it seems for anyone outside of that region to compete at 5 and 10k. Maybe marathon too. It's quite incredible really. They're very wiry in stature and of course they have the altitude there.
West Africa produces the sprinters and the footballers.

Ignoring the racist d1ckheads because too often they become mixed up with those questioning doping allegations and vice versa, I reckon there's an analogy to be drawn.
The law in the U.K. splits into two sections, Criminal and Civil. The two parts require different levels of 'proof''. In Criminal Law, it's beyond reasonable doubt; in Civil Law it's on the balance of probability.
So Mo and his alleged doping:
In Criminal Law he's not guilty. There is reasonable doubt and therefore he can't be found guilty and gets to keep his medals and money.
Under Civil Law, if you think that on the balance of probability he is, and always has, raced clean, I don't think you've been following the story of drugs in sport closely enough. Proven cheats tick boxes. Mo Farah ticks every single one of them, dysfunctional childhood, missed tests, extraordinary physiology, rapid step up in class, links to dodgy coaches, winning in events where it's proven he's been competing against dopers etc
The argument "passed every test" put forward by Scandy provides the 'reasonable doubt' but remember, on that basis, Lance Armstrong, the worst cheat in sporting history, would still have his 7 TdF titles. Strictly speaking LA did test positive but he was still able to forward the 'never positive' argument for years. Marion Jones is another 'I have never tested positive... etc' until one day she coughed up to doping. I don't know what Russian is for 'I'd never do such a thing' but I'm sure there's a shed load of Russian athletes who have said exactly the same.
Frankly, never testing positive means feck-all. Or it means 'not caught yet' . Athletes caught by testers have very often made a mistake in timing or in dosage. For example, they have become desperate to recover lost training time through injury and have taken undue risks with their doping programme. Testing and testers are so far behind the curve. They always have been but EPO was the game changer. Suddenly they weren't half a lap behind, the gap was 3 laps. It's never closed to pre-EPO levels since.
Some sports are trying to get on top of the situation but are probably failing (cycling); other sporting bodies will do the minimum, nod to WADA not rock the boat and sit in quiet denial (football); others are being forced to move because of media pressure (athletics).
All of that without even mentioning TUEs.
It's all unsatisfactory and makes me, as a viewer of sport and a biologist, very cynical.

Incidentally, if you want to see a fascinating film of doping in action, try to catch 'Icarus' on Netflix. It starts as a documentary of a guy trying to film himself cheating (and getting away with it) to win the Haut Tour (TdF for amateurs), but then suddenly midstream takes a weird and sinister turn.

I have never liked mo farah and I was pleased that he only got a silver at the world championship. I don't know why this is and it is certainly not because of his colour. Probably because he lives in america now so i don't consider him british. But there is something about him that doesn't make you warm to him.
