I can't help thinking that, if it's a cremation, they re-cycle the coffin that you paid a fortune for, so as not to look like paupers!
Report ufcdan • August 4, 2017 8:24 AM BST
I was assured that the coffin goes in with you after I told the funeral director I wanted a relative to watch my coffin go into the oven to make sure I got my monies worth ! A friend of mine has just started working for a funeral company, apparently there's plenty of procedures you pay for whether you have them or not. Dead or not I don't fancy having my mouth sown up for one or having a fxxking nappie put on me ! Although I'm a atheist I might convert to Islam, no fxxking about dead buried next day...............sorted ! Mind you if you want to go for free donate your body to science Mischief

No need at all for a ceremony, with people coming who didn't really want to, and much wailing from family members!

My sister's cost almost £5k, and not helped because she didn't want black cars, but silver Mercs like dad had.
Report Lady Faye Verrit • August 4, 2017 8:39 AM BST
I've told my lot not to have a ceremony, but to whizz me off to the crematorium in a wicker coffin.

If that was good enough for David Bowie, it's good enough for me!

i'm told that £600 should cover it.

Spend the rest on a complete family holiday, in a nice villa with a pool.

Just hope they stick to the plan......

Wicker coffin ! All the rage which equates to the funeral world as not cheap ! We walked into a funeral directors to arrange a funeral, they asked who was for. My wife replied me ! We had a cup of tea to which my wife responded "I bet you don't get to do this for many of your customers"  we cut to the chase and said we wanted the cheapest funeral and we had family flowers only with donations to be made to the local hospice.

2015: Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah, one of the richest men in history, was carried in a simple white shroud to an unmarked grave on Friday in a Riyadh cemetery where many of his commoner subjects rest. In keeping with the kingdom's traditions, there was no official mourning period, and flags around the kingdom all flew at full staff. There were no spontaneous gatherings on city streets to mark his passing. Government offices, closed for the Middle East's normal Friday-Saturday weekend, will open as usual on Sunday.

I had heard long time ago that the Saudis bury their dead in an unmarked grave and the graveyard is levelled after 6 months so you dont have any way of recognising where you buried someone. The costs are minimal as you dont have the buy any land or a place for burial. All you need to buy is a white piece of cloth to cover the body(that too because its an islamic requirement). Seems pretty simple and effective way to me without burdening anyone.

I see however that his is not just restricted to Islam because first google search on muslim burials in UK recommends you save upto 3000 pounds if you want to bury someone here Laugh I say the saudis have it right, unless you buy the crap of 'honoring someone's life' or celebrating his achievements bla bla which are there just to make you spend more money.

I think the cost is good value. I can think of several funerals for which I would gladly pay that amount.  Of course most are representatives of the Religion of Peace and they are not yet in a position to be funeralised!

Funny how some try to pass their hatred of the Islamic Religion onto as many threads as possible
anyone would think they were working for some far right group maybe they are ...
Report Slicer • August 4, 2017 2:59 PM BST
Strange isn't it. A bit like the Contrarian apologists who post on the BetFair forums. Same old, same old.

You can bury your elderly relative in your back garden if you like.

Also possible to bury dead ones.
Report lovegod • August 4, 2017 3:10 PM BST
Do they allow you to be left out in the open for foxes and birds to devour you?
Report Breedingmad • August 4, 2017 3:29 PM BST
Apologist hey point out exactly where I have apologized? You just
don't like people who disagree with your far right E.D.F. type
rubbish that only incites hatred and solves nothing. If people
can't live together in harmony then there is no future for any of us.
History has taught us that your views only lead to War and violence.

The answer to the burying question is you must be 2 feet below ground.

I am quite happy to discuss things. However YOU have shown your colours on many threads. If you are a family man, your family may live long enough to see that my views are correct and yours are not. I must agree to disagree with your views as I am getting weary of your posts and can't be bothered.

Which part exactly do you think is worth that amount of money? I can understand personal/religious preferences and wouldn't argue how someone wants to go, but what exactly do you consider value? Can you give an example of a funeral that you think is worth paying 3000-4000 bucks for?

I had an elederly neighbor who died last month. She lived alone. Her letters sometimes stayed in the postbox for weeks. We had to check on her sometimes to see if she was alive as we sometimes didn't hear or see her for days. Within a couple of hours of when she was found dead, a van arrived to pick up her body. I was on my way to the city centre and since the stuff was in my head, i noticed the office of the same company that came to pick her up. It was a corner plot in the city, and must have occupied about 5-6 shops worth of space. On two storeys. God knows what they needed that much space for but it just showed to me they must be making a lot of money to have such a big office at such a location. I don't know if she had prepaid for her funeral, or her kids, but what's the point of the funeral in such a case? She lived a life i wouldn't wish for any elderly person. Better dead than live like that when your own kids cant look after you. And then I hear the same people talking about honoring or celebrating the lives of their parents. You couldn't do it for them in their lifetime, whats the point spending so much money when they are gone?
