I dont use kodi so not bothered about that, will be annoyed if they block all the individual streaming sites tho
Report knot in wood • August 1, 2017 8:02 PM BST
if sky virgin etc were not so greedy there would hardly be a problem.

take this new sky football channel cost= £18( 1 channel)
you must have at least the basic sky package= £22
broadband say approx = £25
any further sports channels= £6+

like your horse racing:
ruk= £25
atr( unless you have a full package)= £6

now you want to watch the prem games and champions lge on bt sport= £22

tv licence (compulsory)= £12
new sky box=£20

you are looking at around £136 a month just to watch a bit of football and racing, right or wrong no wonder people are looking to use these boxes etc.

Breaking down my package, I'd guess I'm paying about £20 a month for Sky Sports. Does anybody know if I can carry on as I am, or will this rebranding bollox mean that I have to get them all individually now, which will end up costing more?
Report knot in wood • August 1, 2017 8:23 PM BST
i'm not a expert kenbo but i think i seen £27.50 for all the sky sports channels.
Report tobermory • August 1, 2017 8:24 PM BST
You don;t have to have them individually no.
Report s.kenbo • August 1, 2017 8:28 PM BST
I've just checked my online bill breakdown. £16.50 a month for Sky Sports.

I got boxsets a few years ago because ATR was included in it. That was £8. It's now £23. A rip off. They're even showing ATR on Sky Sports tonight.

Thanks guys.
Report knot in wood • August 1, 2017 8:35 PM BST
if you have all the sky sports channels for £16.50 you doing well ken, but obviously there's that basic package with that at £23(compulsory)= £39.50

all adds up don't it.

Try acestream, it's delayed, but it's perfect quality and no ads.
Report tobermory • August 1, 2017 8:41 PM BST
Yeah Kenbo you must have a big discount . Box Sets is £38 and Sports £27.50 more at full rate , with £6 on top for Sports HD
Report s.kenbo • August 1, 2017 8:45 PM BST
£5.10 for Sky Cinema. Cool
£12 for multiscreen.

Yes, Toby. They're all discounted when I look closely.
Report scandanavian_haven • August 1, 2017 8:52 PM BST

Report tobermory • August 1, 2017 8:53 PM BST

Do you need to download anything, or be a member? Does this site give you all sports?

Report s.kenbo • August 1, 2017 9:00 PM BST
It doesn't seem like I'm doing too bad then. I haven't got an aerial so multiscreen is the best way for TV in the bedroom.

Broadband's £25.
Report scandanavian_haven • August 1, 2017 9:27 PM BST
you download it, and get the links from reddit where they're posted, or http://www.livefootballol.me/acestream-channel-list-2017.html
Report stroodle • August 1, 2017 9:35 PM BST
These companies will start stopping these streaming sites soon
Report scandanavian_haven • August 1, 2017 9:43 PM BST
they've been saying that for years, it's impossible to keep blocking streams.
Report stroodle • August 1, 2017 9:44 PM BST
Looks a bit complicated for mac, will have a good read about it first before I just try to download the wrong thing.
Report zorrostrikes • August 1, 2017 11:03 PM BST

nibbling has begun.

A gent on here recommended ultimatemania.rocks.

No need to download anything - costs a little money but can try it for one day for a quid or two.

the future is the sporting bodies selling access to their content directly over the internet in every possible granular form (i.e. full season down to individual match) at a price the market considers fair.

sky and BT are not going gentle into that good night, unsurprisingly, but like death, it's inevitable.

The only danger is that if they resist this for too long, they wont be involved in the production, which is the only piece of the pie that will left.
Report DStyle • August 2, 2017 10:20 AM BST
and fwiw, sky's new pricing model is only making this situation worse. once you start slicing the pie, everything becomes more transparent, and more open to competition.
Report mokegibboni • August 2, 2017 10:29 AM BST
Regards blocking things - can you can get around it using a VPN? Would that help?
Report DStyle • August 2, 2017 10:40 AM BST
yep. or an anonymous proxy.
Report scandanavian_haven • August 2, 2017 10:46 AM BST
Opera browser gives you 5 countries to choose from for free.
Report Jack Hacksaw • August 2, 2017 11:02 AM BST
Sky's new pricing structure isn't really a big change - no matter how much it is promoted as such.

Until they scrap the basic package BS.

Also, its a bit like buying stuff on sale - 3 for the price of 2.  Very few people are going to buy one.
Report DStyle • August 2, 2017 11:14 AM BST
Well, the problem is they're saying it costs £216 to watch the cricket for a year.

Now, if some bod at the ECB works out that they get £200 million a year from sky, and that more people are prepared to watch and pay for cricket if sky are by-passed and the product is available on the internet at a lower price, what do you do?

7.4. million watched the climax of the 2005 ashes, and Channel 4 were getting about 5 million viewers for the final test. Sky is lucky to break a million.  The first ashes test in 2015 had less than half a million watching....

You bundle it all up in nebulous total sports subscription an it's harder to untangle.
Report Jack Hacksaw • August 2, 2017 12:24 PM BST
£216 a year for cricket?  Not unless you pay for a basic package too (£22 pm)

I get your point about commercial information, but the pricing discourages selecting only one channel - but most people will choose more than one....£18 for one, £22 for two, £26 for three and £27.50 for ALL TEN.  I reckon the vast majority will choose ALL.  The basic package
adds £22 so the difference between getting just one sports channel and all 10 is relatively small.  So little difference.  As you were...etc.
Report s.kenbo • August 8, 2017 3:47 PM BST
I've just upgraded to unlimited fibre, and SkyQ2 for an extra £7 a month. Cool

A lot of these Sports could be worse off though . Sky and BT may well pay more than these things are worth . The Premier League is so much tied in with Sky's identity . While only 40% of Sky customers have Sports those people will contribute a lot more than 40% of the revenue , and a large part of what they pay is for stuff other than the Sports channels ; base package etc . A lot of those will not be paying Sky a penny if they lose the PL . BT are only involved at all because they see Sky as their major threat in broadband . I get the impression Sky will pay whatever for the premier league rights .If Sky disappeared BT would be bidding much lower and other companies would make take it or leave irt offers as they will have other things going on.
