All my life I was told too much salt was bad for you.Now I read that the same Salt experts say"that cutting down on salt is not a good idea" that the advantages of taking salt are better than cutting down on it"looks like the salt jury are out again to decide if Salt is good or bad for you"
So if you like plenty of salt on your chips you can say "the scientists say its good for you"and if you are not a salt lover you can still say"too much salt is bad for you"
So this post clears it all up for you all"Salt is good and bad for you at the moment"Laugh

As with all things, it's all about moderation.  Water will kill if you drink too much.  That's how ecstasy can kill.

salt is bad for you... if you are taking table salt.

Kazakhstan made a conscious effort to change it's iodized salt intake,
that's salt with iodine. It prevents thyroid conditions.
Increases the IQ, something which chess grandmaster Karpov has been
harping on about for decades.

In 1999, only 29 percent of the Kazakstan’s households were using iodized salt. Now, 94 percent are. Only nation to wise up so far.

The pink salt(Himalayan) and the celtic salt, both contain micro minerals that the
body needs. Usually found in food by the coasts. These trace minerals are necessary for the body's everyday needs.

Stomach acid is necessary to digest foods. As you age your stomach acid levels drop. The PH drops and it gets more neutral. This gives you acid reflux, heartburn all sorts of stomach issues. the salt Sodium Chloride helps create the acid in your stomach. By cutting out salt your food will not be properly broken down. causing problems further in your digestion tract.

Pink salt can be bought in the poundshops. no need to go crazy and shell out big bucks.

I meant to point out that the pink salt has about 90 minerals in it.
almost every element on the periodical table. including some radioactive ones.
but it's in super small amounts.

Also pink salt is very pretty.

If you have high blood pressure AND you're consuming a lot of salt, then cutting down on salt will help a little in reducing your blood pressure. Though nothing like ditching the car and switching to eating more fruit and veg will.

But if your blood pressure is normal, then reducing your salt intake won't make any difference to your blood pressure, but will have a big, negative effect on your health in general. As zorro says, you need all those trace elements, and you definitely need that sodium.

One of the worst things you can do is switch to so-called salt substitute, i.e. potassium chloride instead of sodium chloride. Potassium and sodium are next to each other on the periodic table, and the body doesn't distinguish between the two when it comes to excreting the excess in your p1ss. So if you spray loads of potassium chloride on your food, mistakenly thinking that's "healthy", like it says on the carton, then your body will get rid of your vital sodium as well as the new potassium, and you can make yourself chronically ill.

Yes, because too much will dilute the levels of salt in the body.

That drink so many litres of water per day advice is a big error.

Drink when you're thirsty - your body knows best and it will tell you when you need to drink.

If you get cramps in bed, a good tip is to take some magnesium before you sleep.
If that doesn't stop them then you need to take some potassium.
Cramps are a sign of a deficiency in one of those.
Especially after drinking because alcohol depletes your vital minerals.
The potassium worked for me.

Here, this bloke knows as much as I do. Well nearly anyway.

My uncle is a doctor. He keeps telling us to use less salt but when he makes salad, he puts salt on each piece of tomato and cucumber in his salad 'individually' and says salt enhances the taste!

Has he taken the Hypocritical Oath?

That reminds me of putting salt down to stop slugs from eating the radishes in your garden.

When I put salt down, the slugs were dipping the radishes in the salt before they ate them.

I would take all of this with a pinch of....Ooops, sorry.

Don't take vitamins and supplements. Like Calcium or Magnesium.
It'll impact on your kidneys. Rather do a Google search and find out
what foods contain calcium and Magnesium. The plants draw up the minerals
in the soil converting them to digestible and easy absorbing types.
the multivitamins are just rocks. they'll harm you in the long run.
a lot of people take calcium for weak bones, when you should be eating
oats for silica. Silica aids calcium absorption - you'll be able to
absorb the calcium in your food. Think about horses and what they feed them.
the nice shiny coats. Oats. (oats, uncooked with apple puree and cinnamon)
(oats, uncooked with yogurt)
