it's utter crappola. when i watched tom baker in the 70's, he wasn't this enabled science god figure. he could barely manage to work the box. now it's pinpoint control and he has all the answers. it's too slick, it's a science wet dream. control of everything by scientific means. Gay stories, les bean pronouncements. it's not content to be a science fiction story anymore, it's teaching from a pulpit.

its a daft tv show that gets viewers, zorro, you're the one in a pulpit every day here.

i saw the latest eps on catchup.. cybermen on crosses, the science professor giving a sermon on good to the master, it was loaded with sermons. As always he falls through a volcano and comes out the shining knight. Science has all the answers. just have faith in science.

Minorities have to be over-represented on all television these days. We have to be seen to actively encourage them all, being tolerant of differences is no longer enough.

no to Lebanese doctor - they are from the wrong period in time.

Trouble is the Doctor has turned into a soldier -- something that has been mentioned in the programme itself.

In the old days, he'd defeat the enemy by tricking them, or luring them into a trap -- and over the course of several weeks so there was a build up of tension with both the Doctor and his companions (often more than one) in real peril. Now there is a lot of standing around talking while the Doctor explains the plot, no sense of danger to the main characters, and a climax with a lot of explosions.

Though probably me being several decades older is not helping here. It is often said that you can tell a person's age by their favourite Doctor.
