World champion Peter Sagan was disqualified from the Tour de France for causing Mark Cavendish to crash on stage four of the race.
The Briton accused Sagan of elbowing him during the sprint finish in Vittel.
Cavendish finished the stage after receiving medical treatment for several minutes, before going for an X-ray.
"I get on well with Peter and a crash is a crash but I'm not a fan of him putting his elbow in," said 32-year-old Dimension Data rider Cavendish.

Britain's Mark Cavendish pulled out of the Tour de France after breaking a shoulder in a crash on stage four.
The 32-year-old, who has won 30 career stages, collided with Peter Sagan before hitting the barriers 150 metres from the finish line in Vittel.
He was in contention for the stage victory on Tuesday when Sagan, battling for space with Dimension Data rider Cavendish on the right-hand side of the road, moved to his right.
Sagan appeared to flick out an elbow as Cavendish was forced into the barriers at about 60km/h.
Slovakia's Sagan was initially docked 30 seconds for his role in the crash, but the race jury looked at the incident again before disqualifying him.

No rider is above the rules of the TdF or UCI, etc. I think Sagan has grown progressively more dangerous, perhaps convinced that his popularity makes him untouchable. He has been developing a practice of barging other riders out of the way and the commissaires have decided that it is time to put down a marker for the safety of other riders.
I, for one, applaud their courage in taking on a very popular hero. The commissaires have all the evidence from all angles. Of course they can make mistakes, but they are appointed to uphold the rules.
It's disappointing for Sagan and his fans, but also for Cavendish and his fans. Better to make the tough judgement now before the rules get tossed aside and the risk for all the sprinters is cranked up until something very serious happens.

yes one angle shows sagan leaning across with his shoulder and cav is already halfway to the tarmac before the elbow comes across, very harsh to say the elbow was deliberate ,as in all sports only sagan no,s the truth
