I'm at a loss to see how they can afford to pay these sky high wages. The amount of fare evasion is at epic proportions.
On Monday i watched in astonishment as this well dressed "gent" on reaching the barrier put both hands either side of the gate and leapt over.He casually stopped to brush himself down, picked up his briefcase and sloped off towards the exit.Staff were watching but did nothing apart from shake their heads.

think you will find only RPI's will challenge fare evaders
we get loads its funny as they sneak through or pretend they have a ticket
We cannot stop them travelling to the best of my knowledge only advise them
if an inspector etc on train will fine them or mg11 them

My younger brother is a driver for South West trains and his basic is £55K and he does a few days a month overtime when he can be bothered. It's decent money and he enjoys the job and the camaraderie amongst his colleagues.

Guards gets my goat. Not a usual train user, I sat down when the doors opened only to be told I was in first class and £20 fine. I only travelled one stop and had nothing to gain whatsoever. Appealed a couple of times but banging my head against a brick wall

Sorry woodmanchester but I really don't want to be traveling with the riff raff and the oiks Wink

Shouldn't be beyond the tech guys to produce driverless trains, it's not (stephenson's) rocket science.

Train Drivers and Tube Drivers Will soon be No more , Greedy Feckers the Lot of them Grossly over paid for a Job anyone with half a Brain could do ,and still want More, Holding the Public to Ransom , Automation surely cant be that far away ,These people could be Employed in a safety role on the Train or Platforms ,Rather than hidden away in a box at the front ..

No need for a Driver whatsoever Spec on the Tubes .

Until they break down casemoney, yes driving a train is very simple. So simple even I've driven oneMischief however if they break down the driver has to have a good knowledge of the train and back up systems to get the train moving again especially on the underground. The last thing you need is a bunch of trains backed up down the pipes on a hot summers day. Plus the second there is a death I don't particularly want to hear John McDonnel screaming murder Plain

As above it's not the driving the test to pass to be a driver
(never tried it)is very difficult that not many get past stage one

Of the last intake of twelve on the line i work only two made it to lunchtime

It has a lot to do with a persons make-up and concentration levels
