If you don't own the property you can be told to leave because it is someone else's responsibility, if you own a property it is your responsibility and it is your decision.

even if you own a property there are circumstances when you can be told to leave.

According to Sky some 83 people ( or possibly households ) stayed put last night. They intend to evict them today.
What as shambles. The blonde child who is leader of Camden Council is the daughter of the late Lord Gould one of the close associates of Blair and, particularly,Mandelson

Being pragmatic is not an option anymore. You have to be seen going over the top, to appease the noisy ones, and to protect your arse just in case.

Highly doubtful, as someone said earlier, they would be safer at home.

Perhaps it would have been better to evacuate those on the higher floors, all the lower floor tenants in Grenfell got out. This does seem a bit of an over-reaction and panic situation, obviously serious measures have to be taken now for safety. But to relocate people and give them a short notice of just a few hours, maybe could have been handled differently.

Also lot of people concerned about what to do with their pets when they have to suddenly get out. Battersea Dogs Home have offered to take in all animals from owners who escaped from Grenfell and temporarily look after them for free. Lot of pets are believed to have died in the blaze as people left them behind while they fled.

Always plenty of Chit Chat 'experts' to say it was wrong. It wasn't just the cladding, there were faults with the lagging on the gas pipes, fire doors amongst other things. You cannot play games with peoples lives. However inconvenient it may be for the residents they are alive and safe.

Lots of older houses will need rewiring all over the country, but until an electrician is working in the house and tells the owner this, or until something goes wrong, they will be blissfully unaware. Throwing the baby out with the bath water in this instance, mainly for appearance.

these buildings are supposed to get regular checks for fire, safety, build regulations etc,etc and up until a week ago the powers that be were quite happy to play fast and lose with peoples lives, just remember this is the sort of red tape the tories, big business want a bonfire of

Seems to me that the relationship between building contractors and building control is endemically corrupt.

council had no choice but to act . Condemned by the Fire  service  - i would rather someone woke me up and told me to leave for safety reasons  - then i can atleast choose to stay /leave .   GG said residents were not forced to move

they also probably didn't want to run the risk of angry residents   protesting about living in unsafe accom' after the fire checks .

They are being forced to move fwiw.  The decision is a no brainer for the council (first and foremost they are protecting themselves from possible prosecution)  Given the residents the option to stay, leaves the council facing more serious prosecution if someat happens to the building.

with this camden one i think the cladding seems to be the least of their problems  - this is more about fire hazards elsewhere in the building .

will take a long time to put right

It's an interesting conspiracy that the may want to knock these tower blocks down, they are dotted along a street in a fairly wealthy part of North London and maybe some influential local residents residing in million pound houses within eye shot see them as an eye sore and want them gone, probably lowers the value of their homes.

One of the residents on Sky News spent 12 hours sat in a plastic blue chair outside the Leisure centre, then was told she had a room in a  hotel in Camden, but was turned away because it was double booked, what a farce.

this was always on the cards - these flats were all put up in the sixties. using concrete blocks. was it bison block panels? they were corroding and falling off the tower blocks. tons of concrete falling from a great height? they were meant as a short term solution. To get people out of slums. They should have been all retired after 40-50 years.
