Man and boy. Even though I'm partially sighted I never claimed any state benefits until my weekly pension of £156 arrived. Watching this Rage March thing today, with its calls for a youth led agenda and intent to disrupt parliament and stretch an already exhausted London police force. What about people like me, why shouldn't we be listened to as well? I must have paid fortunes in tax in my life, which I don't begrudge one penny as the NHS has been wonderful to me and my family, but us oldies deserve to be heard. It is beginning to seem to me that many youngsters seem to want everything without actually earning it. John McDonnell supports this Rage nonsense so I heard. I'm Labour through and through, but I hate this current lot on their front bench, they are just troublemakers who do not care a jot about everyday folks like us.

Well said KL. There are millions like you and they all need to get out and vote against this atrocious communist shower. Unfortunately many vote like turkeys as someone posted elsewhere. They are dazzled by unrealistic promises.
Report Slicer June 21, 2017 4:57 PM BST
Get used to it. This government cannot last long. Corbyn next Prime Minister- forget about mass immigration-it will be mass emigration!
Report Foinavon June 21, 2017 5:00 PM BST
There's nowhere to run Dr Slicer. I emigrated to escape Wilson but am too old for that sort of thing now.
Report Slicer June 21, 2017 5:10 PM BST
You are ALMOST correct. Islamification has already started in USA, Canada, Australia, but it is about 12 years behind the UK. It would be a problem because of my age, but my background research has shown that if one takes in enough money (I have been quoted half a million sterling) it is not too difficult. If Corbyn is elected I, for one, will give it the utmost consideration. If one does one's homework, there are other places where one can virtually disappear and the authorities are not too bothered.
Report Foinavon June 21, 2017 5:16 PM BST
Perhaps Canada would be the plaice to go. Or even Cape Cod in the USA.
Report King Louis June 21, 2017 5:17 PM BST
I struggle to afford cod and chips these days!

The old have already scuttled the pig of plenty and spaffed all over it leaving just the bones for the next gen to pick up.

What the wise of today know is that its a mugs game to do anything that involved 'labour' as its worthless now and will go the same way as the pig, everyone is expected to speculate on numbers moving up and down on a screen.
Report Slicer June 21, 2017 5:20 PM BST
Sorry to hear that King Louis. But you will be ok- when Labour is elected plenty of food banks!

I don' do town so much these days, but what would I get in interest if I sent one of somali drivers in the rolls to deposit a case of baked beans.  What is the interest rate?

Labour through and through Laugh
Report mecca June 21, 2017 7:12 PM BST
I reckon if there was an election next week, the Tory's would win a comfortable majority.

Before this last election, everyone was thinking that it was going to be a foregone conclusion. Many Tory voters didn't bother to vote as they thought it was all over bar the shouting.

The gullible youth were encouraged to come out en masse to vote for labour.
People will now be frightened by how close Corbyn came to winning.... So the conservatives would walk it.
(Just for the record..... I've never voted Tory in my life)
Report anxious June 21, 2017 7:16 PM BST
Erm the tories increased their share of the vote but lost their majority , how did tory voters not bother to vote  ?
Report anxious June 21, 2017 7:17 PM BST
Why would people be afraid of Corbyn , even the Daily Mail and the Sun failed to scare people
Report donny osmond June 21, 2017 7:23 PM BST

conservatives are just gonna dismantle the NHS.
Labour after the war at least gave people something that lasted.
When war debt was huge.

My Dad left school at 16, worked my Grandad's farm in Ireland for 5 years and then came to London where he met my Mum in Brixton. Busted his balls working all his life putting his 6 children in private schools and when he decided to take a break, starting playing golf, bought a couple of racehorses and played squash with me two or three times a week in Beckenham. 1 year later, aged 59 he died of mesothelioma which is a truly hideous disease. Carpe diem because you just don't know what life has in store for you.

free higher education, affordable homes, full time jobs for life with functioning unions and labour laws, a healthy NHS, a well staffed Police force, good pensions, no concerns about climate change.

you've had it pretty good.

compare that to being loaded with debt after a university course (because there's a belief that an increase in the number of people attaining useless degrees is a sign of social mobility), **** job prospects with a workforce resigned to zero hour contracts, being unable to buy a house because your country's residential property has been wh0red out to foreign investors and private landlords, an NHS that's creaking at the seams because a Labour government paid nothing for new hospitals leaving your generation will have to pay the bill at rates of interest that would make Shylock look a philanthropist, who knows how long you'll have to work for, what pension you'll get, whether they'll be any jobs, whether they'll be food crises because of climate change.

And their parents and bosses are Thatcher's children.

I would hope, by the time I reach retirement age, that I'm more worried about my children's and my grandchildren's long term future, rather than the final 15 to 20 years of my life.

My grandfather worked his whole life in the foundries and rolling mills from leaving school until retirement.
He built tanks, ships hulls, armour plating, spitfire crankshafts and allsorts.
Lost his fingers in the Hydraulic hammer, had half his stomach removed from the lifting and his nervous system was shot due to the heat, pluss his lungs were riddled with respirtory problems.

He just about made retirement then died and never had a pot to p1ss in.

I saw this as the steel mills were closed in the 80s and the asset strippers made plenty out of it.

Personal finance today is like guerilla warfare, you have to beat the tory at their own game to save yourself before they steal the feckin lot.

It's remarkable how present day workers have thrown away what the old timers fought for before and after the war years.
They've been took to the cleaners really, and all on the back of oversupply of labour which wouldn't have even been possible under Attlee, Bevan and the rest of the labour movement.

Mind you the workers were smarter in those days, the unions would never have allowed the government to import workers like they do now.

And the tragedy is that the workers today still don't realise what been happening, as they wait for the phone to ring to find out if they'll be needed at work tomorrow.
Zero hours contracts in the old days and Poles taking their jobs? They'd have closed the country down before standing for that.
