When I first had my problems Jack I was 20st 5lb after nearly dying I thought it would be a good idea to put on four more stone
lost about three of that again but it's a struggle. Not much of a drinker now and thankfully never smoked food is my vice. Both my attacks happened in the morning after doing a night shift. Luckily I was in a financial position to give up work but to be honest getting a bit bored. Might go back to work part time once the building work here is finished and I've decorated |

One word - lifestyle.
Reading threads like these over health problems caused basically by overindulgence, should hearten anyone who has decided to take the healthy life option against one of gorging themselves with fattening all day. It's simply a matter of choice. |

Dr I fully take onboard what your saying and I'm not helping the situation but I am trying to rectify it, however to some extent it's the luck of the draw look at the recent pas sings of some people in the football world who where all fit men

That's so sad, Dan
.My weight had drifted up over winter. I cut out all dairy and lost a stone in less than three months. Never felt hungry and didn't even miss the cheese and biscuits. Still don't. |

The say that sleep apnea can affect your mood and make you more obese Dan , it can kill you in extreme cases
|

Cheers Foinavon, fifteen years ago now. Saddest part was for my kids, oldest one getting married in six weeks. A happy day but will be tinged with sadness. I go to slimming world, when I put my mind to it I do ok. Trouble is bbqs or parties where there's food seem to self destruct

Eat something sensible before you go to the party or BBQ. Eggs are good for cutting the appetite.

Healthy people die from all kinds of things anyway, but why make death more likely by leading a lifestyle that encourages health problems?
We're vulnerable enough as it is without adding to the risk of falling foul of disease. Of course the big risk being overweight is type 2 diabetes which gets progressively worse in most cases. You don't know you've got it until it's too late to do anything about it. If you're overweight get you blood glucose checked, you might catch it in time before it's gone too far. |

It might not suit or be appropriate for anyone, but I have been on a 5-2 diet since last September. I was 16-7 stone and am now 14-8. I am 6-1 tall. Most rapid weight loss at the start. I have not done any more exercise.
The two days off 'fasting' are a bit of a bummer. They are obviously no alcohol days. By dinner time, you don't even think of a drink, you are glad to get your meal. I do one meal a day and I can have 600 calories, which is plenty if you eat plenty of veg in the meal or a big salad. Non diet days I enjoy a drink more than I used to when I drank every day. I try to be a bit more sensible when eating on the other 5 days, but if I want a pizza or curry, I have one. Also, I have cut down on bread. There was usually a lovely fresh loaf for a sandwich or later for toast and I love bread. But now that is for special occasions and I keep a sliced loaf in the freezer for the occasional slice of toast. My supposed 'ideal' weight is something stupid like 11 stone. I should probably be 13.5 stone in my opinion. |

Same height, weight and history as me Jack. In fact I started a 5-2 diet thread on here a few years ago that got loads of replies.Changed my eating habits now, breakfast never before 11am.Dinner no later than 7pm.So effectively I'm fasting about 16hrs a day. Works well for me.

I know the old adage about eat breakfast like a king etc, but I reckon you are right. I never eat it. I'd eat dinner earlier given the choice. On several occasions during the cooking of the evening meal I have enquired with the cook (who is usually on the wine) at approximately what time we might be eating. I have learnt its best not to ask!

6ft1in Jack !!!!! That's my main problem, I'm to short for my weight
Also I was told by my doctor I should be 10st 10lb I laughed and said maybe on the way down when I'm in the oven at the crematorium to which he replied fat people burn quicker ! Sympathetic fella that he is ![]() |

And yes Dr I was recently diagnosed as pre diabetic. Now despite my looks have never been close before, I've put it down to slimming world, they have free foods which include pasta. Now if you tell a fat g1t like me you can eat all you want I tend to take you at your word
knocked the pasta on the head and my blood sugars came down straight away. I try to do the 16/8 eating habit which I find fairy easy rather than the 5/2 melarky ![]() |

A good rule of thump regarding being overweight is; if you can't see your ribs them you're overweight.

Dan can see his ribs.
He has a massive pile of them on the BBQ. ![]() |
