I think they are pretty decent. Isn't the alternative to take two pairs of glasses everywhere you go?
I wear the varifocals every time I go out.
I use the reading ones for using the PC and reading and ask for them to be adjusted for pc use. I have 2 reading pairs & leave one at work.
I also have a pair of long distance glasses which I use for watching TV. If I'm watching the racing, I normally wear the varifocals as you want to read as well as look long distance. It's pretty impractical to keep switching glasses all afternoon.

It's a right scam their charging policies though. You'd imagine that the lens goes into the machine for a similarly short period whichever prescription you have for your glasses. You can save a fair few quid on glassess with companies like Ciliary blue.

Is the forum wobbling? I first replied and the post did not show for a few refreshes, then it finally showed. I posted a 2nd message and can't see it yet. The forum suggests 4 posts for this thread of which I can only see 3.

I think that you are supposed to look through the center, top bit of the lens for long distance and the bottom part of the lens for reading. You should avoid looking through the top outside bit of the lens and try to look mostly straight. Easier said than done perhaps!
