I'm not talking about the sweeney or minder. They are still being shown on Itv3 and Itv4.

I got round to watching a dvd i bought a while ago - Moody and Pegg. (1974)
seems freemantle(australia?) has all the old brit tv shows bought up.

At the time it was shown, it got an audience of 15 million viewers (three stations on tv)
it starred Derek Waring and Judy Cornwall.
It's like a historical document. The way we used to live. I watched it as a kid aged eight.
Like rising damp it shows that decor was not what we are used to today.
lack of emulsion in the seventies? brown decor is everywhere. Old kitchen cabinets.
outside is well represented too - old cars and buses.
three course meals for 36p. it really was a blast from the past.
my attention was split between the scenery and the story.
very passive slow drama.

is there any lost dramas you can recommend. the BBC destroyed a lot? i was hoping to see
don camillo(1980) with Brian Blessed, but it looks lost?

Ovalman - Very disappointed that the Tripods series was abandoned after the 2nd series. They've abandoned quite a few sci fi series in mid stream. Very frustrating especially for sci fi geeks like me. More recently, The Dome, again abandoned due to falling viewing figures I suppose.

Also, that TV series where the aliens dragged their dying planet to orbit the earth ... and then left it there! Most frustrating!

Was a shame, the third book, the pool of fire is probably the best of the original trilogy.  Have never read the added story When the tripods came,  would be good to see the whole lot re made, as long as it's not done in the USA (cough, childhoods end). I'd say it's prime for today's 'boxset' generation.

In fact, we had a local transport café named after the programme called (not surprisingly) 'The Out of Town Cafe'. It was the owner's favourite TV programme. Sadly closed down now and flats built on the space instead!
