Put it this way, it looked a lot better in the trailers.

A very poor man's Wolf of Wall Street.

It was pretty poor, but I'm ashamed to say I quite liked it.

I watched this. Thought it was pretty awful, mostly because of not liking the central characters.

Having a read up on the bloke who wrote it, he said he was born in 1971, and grew up in Essex, and remembers what it was like.
Given that it was set in 1983, he'd have been 12!

I was a sales rep in Essex in the late 1980's (not double glazing) for a couple of years and it couldn't have been less like it.

It was more like the way Bankers of the last 15 years behave and mostly, considering it's a comedy, not actually funny.

What was thatat programme Rik Mayall did where he sent up sales reps? The Comic Strip?

That was good.

I don't remember that - He was good as Alan B'stard though.

Most recent comedies aren't as funny as they used to be, are they?
Or is it me getting old?

Comedies about door to door salesmen have always had their knockers

I just want to mention the blind man before you tell that too, crisp.

I've just seen that they're all available on Sky catch up/boxsets. I'm currently downloading them. Blush

I rated it, no canned laughter was a plus as well

Had low expectations but actually not bad.  I used to work in sales at that time and some of the characters aren't that far from reality.

Watched the first one on catch up and must confess to liking it.

I've watched all six. I enjoyed them.

Not a patch on Ted 2.
Report Ramruma May 30, 2017 9:45 PM BST
Episode 3 was unnecessarily crude imo and the jokes were telegraphed a mile off.
Report GoOnThen May 30, 2017 9:49 PM BST
Mental note to skip 2 and go straight to Ep.3.

Having watched episodes two and three, it does seem to be improving slightly.  After seeing the trailers, I was expecting and hoping for a comedy-drama with more of a storyline than just a sitcom.

Ramruma - it's created by Damon Beesley (writer and creator of The Inbetweeners) and written by Joe Thomas (Simon in The Inbetweeners and Lavender in White Gold), so that explains the crudity.

Speaking of Joe Thomas, his character is no different to the one he plays in The Inbetweeners.

And why did last night's offering open with Billy Joel's "My Life". Wasn't that from 1978 or 79?

Watched all six episodes. Loved it.

Do we get to see Mrs Swan without clothes?
Report s.kenbo June 8, 2017 7:08 PM BST
Unfortunately not.

New series BBC2 at 10
Report i_agree_with_nick March 6, 2019 9:48 PM GMT
Thanks.

I noticed it in the listings. I haven't seen any trailers so assumed it was series 1 repeated.
Report i_agree_with_nick March 6, 2019 10:45 PM GMT
Not great.

Great season 2 and much better than the new piss poor partridge.
Report Crisp77 March 7, 2019 10:25 PM GMT
I think the problem is the main characters aren't very likeable

I'm quite enjoying it, an easy watch.. I agree about the Partridge comment, it's poor.
Report Aspro March 11, 2019 9:26 AM GMT
Just finished season two (last night) and have to say that season one was funnier with a lot more 80's nostalgia. Season two just about watchable, at best.
