I'd love to say, cheers, that's the one, but...

I can't even remember the lyrics, possibly night and day...but having listened to the Frank Sinatra song of that title, it doesn't sound like it!

The lady was blonde and in her 40s / 50s and sang in an operatic type voice, while the gentleman was distinguished and possibly in his 50s.

The first song is Please Don't Go which I first heard by Donald Peers in 1969 as it hit the pop charts which I was always interested in but I think the tune is much earlier. maybe from an opera?

Second was This Is My Lovely Day from the musical Bless The Bride.

Sachs said the singers were  Maryetta and Vernon Midgley

This song has been going through my head for years but I can't find out what it is. Remember it was sung usually in clubs by couples similar to the couple on TGOD.It was a fast paced song and I think it had the words poor little donkey in it. Any idea?
Report boxingthefox May 21, 2017 1:44 PM BST

Last time I had a song I wanted identifying I gave each note a number and posted the numbers on here.

Tommy Toes correctly recognised  it as Fur Elise.

Thanks very much Kenny and for all the replies, you're right, I did forget about it Blush I'll have to start to start taking more water with it!

I'll have another listen later after the racing, try to remind myself why I thought I'd heard it before, or maybe I was confusing it with another song!
