He means more people with cancer are now being treated. It's a money thang and won't last long. A free-to-the-patient healthcare service isn't functional for everybody or every illness in the U.S.

personally i've went off health care. every time i go to my doctor she says a young man like you doesn't need an xray? i'm 50? i feel 60, look 40.

Fifty isn't old, your doctor is right. (Have a look at the waterworks thread, some of us on there are cemetery side of seventy).
The best health measure anyone around fifty can make (assuming they don't smoke or drink to excess), is to get their weight down to BMI 25 and keep it there.

Go to the docs you are guaranteed to leave with tramadol , anti depressents or a bag full of thinks to help you breathe and slow down your breathing.I know people who went to get sick lines due to taking a week of work or so and came out with pills.The pills not needed DOC
Take it easy, Chaser.The weight advice was the best thing a doctor ever told me and I was around 50 at the time. I didn't heed his advice for another ten years but when blood test results were coming back looking poor in some respects I bit the bullet and lost weight. Felt a lot better, regained energy and I think it enabled me to dodge diabetes and possible stroke/heart attack. It's not easy as it requires commitment and self discipline and you also have to buy new clothes
but it's worth doing, imo.

Walk to shops a mile away, carry your groceries for the day back home. Do it every day. That's more exercise than most people in this country do. If you want to do more, it's up to you.

Avandia received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1999 for the treatment of Type 2 diabetes, and within a few years became a $3 billion money-maker for the company. Then researchers began raising questions about Avandia’s safety. Serious side effects, plus later disclosures that the company had tried to hide evidence from an internal study that showed Avandia was more dangerous than an alternative medication made by another company, eventually led patients who had adverse reactions to Avandia to file lawsuits against GSK.
Despite the FDA’s current approval of the drug, not everyone is convinced that Avandia is safe. Since 2007 more than 50,000 Avandia lawsuits have been filed in state and federal court across the United States, citing GlaxoSmithKline’s failure to inform patients about potentially life-threatening effects that have been linked to Avandia treatment. The federal claims were consolidated in Multidistrict Litigation No. 1871 in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

GSK came in for more censure when company documents uncovered by The New York Times revealed that in 1999, GSK set out to determine if Avandia was safer for the heart than Actos, a similar medication made by Takeda. Not only was Avandia found to be no better than Actos, it was actually riskier. But instead of publishing the study’s outcomes, the company covered them up.
n July 2012, GSK pleaded guilty to federal charges that it failed to report clinical data on Avandia and that it misbranded and unlawfully promoted the drugs Paxil and Wellbutrin for off-label use. The New York Times reported, “Prosecutors said the company had tried to win over doctors by paying for trips to Jamaica and Bermuda, as well as spa treatments and hunting excursions,“ and said that the company failed to report unfavorable data from studies on Avandia’s risks and safety to the FDA. The company reached an agreement with the Department of Justice to pay a $3 billion settlement.
Thirty-eight state attorneys general sued GSK over its marketing of Avandia. They alleged that the company had, without evidence, represented Avandia as a medication for lowering cholesterol, and promoted it for having cardiovascular benefits when in fact it might have increased cardiovascular risks. GSK also promised to change the marketing and promotion of all of its diabetes medications, though it did not admit to being guilty of any wrongdoing.

Moreover, the firm dumped more than 45 liters of concentrated live polio into the water at a Belgium treatment plant, potentially endangering swimmers and fishermen, along with individuals working at the facility.

If a doctor tells you to take something then it must be ok. He's a scientist, science is truth, it's been tested in a science lab by people in white coats. You can't argue with science if you do you're a quack and i shall use my tremendous ego to mock you. You can't argue with facts.
Well you can argue with greed and corruption distorting information even if it is from a scientist. Humans are greedy, even the ones with an IQ of 160+. Good luck with your prescriptions.

Last pills i got from A doc was allergy pills for nose and eyes in the some weathers.Said do not take for more than a month but i got a 3 month supply
