I always sit down at home, as it is civilised
Now stop right there, mister. Did your pa tell you nothing?
A man can't fully void while seated. The more bends you put in a pipe, the more chance of a blockage.I was asked to produce a sample and for this I needed to stand.
What became obvious was a much more constant flow, and my lady doctor thought that she could feel the prostate perhaps swollen, so that when seated it would compress and weaken/interrupt the flow.]
See?
You said yourself that you suspected an infection. The urine in a healthy man's bladder is pretty much sterile. However if that urine is allowed to go stale, there's a good chance of getting a urinary tract infection. Most infections can be cured with a course of pills.
I didn't mean to scare you off from seeing an expert. Sorry about that. Go tomorrow and see what number you can score on the helicopter. The sonic scan is cold but not painful. If you've complete voided and the finger test by an expert finds no problems, you won't have to make a television appearance. Thanks posy....yes I will be speaking to her in the morning.
We have a good relationship that goes back to 1986, when we were both young....LOL
kincsem.....reading things, like here, makes you realise how fortunate others can be, with conditions that are quite trivial in comparison!kincsem, you had a terrible experience. You were lucky to survive it. I would have hauled myself into the school and gotten a teacher to call an ambulance. The eye floaters do tend to go away after a few years or at least become less noticable. They kind of stick to the eye wall when they eventually bump into it.
If you live alone, you should keep a phone with you at all times. I live in a lonely place for part of every year and I've kept a phone right with me ever since I broke an ankle and nobody stopped by for three days. I was a half-mile from the house and I finally decided to crawl home on the second night. I got to the front stoop at sun up and a buddy came over to visit just as I cussed my way up the steps.I want a supply of the drugs they gave me
The "stop the urge to pee" pills .... I cashed five live poker tournaments in a row.
The drugs the gave me in hospital gave me hallucinations.
I didn't sleep for about four days. With my eyes open I was ok.
When I closed my eyes I had visions.
Looking down on a conifer forest on a hill from a few hundred feet I see a man with long hair and beard made from conifers. He is the same height of the trees, and his hair and beard flowing in the wind. He walks through the trees.
I see another forest like the one above. The trees turn to deer who run down the hill, and at the bottom of the hill they become birds and take off in a giant flock.
Thousands of arrows shoot out of the ground and fly around in the air never landing.
A large navy blue lake full of sawmill logs that are speeding around at about twenty times normal rate.
From above I see thousands of people waking along a road. I think it is an army, then as I come down closer I think it might be refugees.
Lower still I see men, women, children in medieval peasant clothes talking and laughing as if they are going to a festival or market.
This went on for days. the nurses said why don't you close your eyes and try to sleep. I couldn't. It was like a continuous film of bizarre events.
When I mention it to one of the younger doctors he said one was the drugs was a "jungle juice".That sounds like a terrible experience, kincsem. As Gallivanter says, get yourself a mobile phone. You can get a basic one for a few quid at Argos, no need for a smartphone.
I've been on the "Prostate Pathway" for six years now and had a number of biopsies. Fortunately, the prescribed pills keep me urinating adequately so no need tor TURP operation yet.
I had a friend who had a prostatectomy because of cancer and contracted sepsis while on chemotherapy. Unfortunately, he died. You had a very lucky escape.I had a Flexible Cystoscopy not so long ago. When i wazzed in the bucket for the Flow Rate Test the bleddy brains of the contraption printed out my result 1 second after i had just started![]()
After that they had me drinking like a fish, but i just couldn't go again. In the end the specialist agreed with me that my flow rate was fine when i told him i can still "hose" those smelly blocks at a rate of knots along the trough in a public toilet
This is the order of things on the day at the hospital when i went for my Flexible Cystoscopy..
(1) waz a test sample, wait for them to check it, if they find any infection they won't go any further on the day (that is what i was told on the day).
(2) Get changed into the hospital pyjama bottoms
(3) Get called into the room with the specialist, a nurse and someone who just stands at the bottom of the treatment table watching things.
(4) Specialist lubes up a gloved hand and tries to shove you off the treatment table whilst checking your Prostate.
(5) Specialist then injects a bit of anaesthetic gel down the end of your little chap.
(6) Specialist then shoves the Cystoscope down the end of your little chap, the nurse then starts to squeeze a bag of saline type solution to fill your bladder up, when it is full the specialist will check the inside of your bladder and the nurse will ask you if you want to look at the monitor.
(7) Go to another room for the Ultrasound scan of your Kidneys, Bladder etc.
(8) Go to another room for the waz flow rate test.
(9) Quick chat with the specialist regarding his/her findings.
(10) Done.
One tip for you, don't jump on the treatment table with gusto like i did. The front of the hospital pyjama bottoms are wide open........i can still see the woman standing at the bottom of the table, her face when my balls were airborne, deary me
I did buy a cheap phone. I never carry it with me. It is on the desk beside my PC.
Another problem after the sepsis was three month of bladder infections.
They gave me pills for a week. Cured. Then a week later it started again.
When they changed the pills and gave a months supply it was permanently cured.
It cost a fortune in doctor visits, about six visits. The worst part is waiting with your wedding tackle exposed and several nurses looking down at it.
"Is it cold outside?" from one.
"Must be," from another.
"Certainly looks like it," from the innocent looking girl with glasses.
It's a man's life as an outpatient.Don't worry about a stiffy with all those lovely nurses, it will shrivel to the size of a peanut. Had a female good looking doc check mine when I was 18 at the height of my virility and it went to the size of a chipolata
Good luck AP, hope all goes well.Swap it for The Electric Company and Kings Cross StationMy dad had wee problems for a long, long time.
He constantly needed to go and when he had to go he had to go immediately. The doctors and hospitals did nothing that made any difference. He was also diagnosed with lung cancer at a very early stage about twenty years before he died and was advised that he needed to nothing about it as he would probably die from something else, which he did. He died from sepsis in a hospital where he was taken from a nursing home.
My dad attended about five nursing homes and none of them were very good, only okay. The last one where he was when he contracted sepsis was a BUPA home and again not very good. He might have survived if the sepsis had been noticed earlier.
My experience with nursing homes is that you are better off at home having someone to live with you, maybe a cutie who would look after you in exchange for the rent!Had a Flexi Cyst Myself in March Despite the Urge to Pish when it Goes in I felt very Little Discomfort ,Was a Little sore After ...
Also had the Ultra sound ..
Had a CT scan a week Later ..
Unfortunately in my Case I was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer in march (flexi found a tumour) had to under go a Turbt, Which is a Rigid Cystocopy under anesthestic, to remove the Tumour from My bladder ,(a bag of Chemo is then put into the Bladder and left for a couple of Hours, drips out through a catheter )that was 3 weeks after the 1st visit . I was Lucky they caught it Early ,Sadly Although my surgeon got the lot the Re occurance Rate is 80 % , Im back for another Flexi in July ,and Every 6 months for prob the next 10 years ,a small price to pay TBH if it had not been Caught Early it is Lethal .
I passed Blood AP that was the sign and is the Main sign of Bladder cancer![]()
I had also not realised how much the Pish pressure had fallen and was actually pishing like a horse following the op
If you have not Passed blood AP you should be Fine, quite possibly a Stone , Just like to Add to anyone reading This
if you See blood in ur Urine GO TO THE DOCTOR URGENTLY ,EVEN IF IT DOESNT RE OCCUR the Visit will Probably save you an awful lot of Grief if not your Life ..Casemoney, I'm sorry for your problems and I'm very glad you're on the mend. Keep up the visits for the ten years and good luck.
My own tale of woe is a little different. I self-catheterize every second day to rip open the scarring caused by urethral strictures. (The scars never stop growing, so I'll be doing this for life.) Most days, I don't get any bleeding but some days I do.
For the last couple of months or so I've had occasional bleeding even on the days when I don't catheterize. The worst of it is, the blood is brown. I know that means old blood. Maybe I damaged the prostate with the catheter or maybe not. For financial reasons, I can't trouble the British NHS any further so I'm holding off (geddit?) until early June when I return to the land of the free where I have health insurance.
For those interested, I didn't get the strictures by doing anything that was fun. Quite the opposite.
Okay, who's next up for the Crying Game?Im very Very Lucky Gall ,One My partner Forced me to the Docs ,the Blood had stopped I thought Perhaps a Burst Blood Vessel.
Two, Early Stage although a Medium grade cancer . the 80% return Rate not Good
But 1 in 2 will suffer some form of cancer in their Lifetime ,Hopefully that's mine out of the Way, well at least for the next 10
Years while I am being Monitored , BC is a Silent killer, I joined a private Forum on Facebook Some Tragic cases on their
If 1 person on here take my advice Regarding Passing Blood or passes on the Message it will have been worth Posting on hereSounds Dreadful what you have to go through Gall . And you get people Going around Moaning about Petty Shyte ..

Im very Very Lucky Gall ,One My partner Forced me to the Docs
At first I read that as "One of my partners."
I thought, how come he gets two or more and I don't get any?
Good luck, fella. It's easier when somebody gives a damn. You have the added benefit of any (unlikely I hope) recurrence being picked up quickly, either by the sawbones or your partner.

it's a bonus if when you pass on they are so upset they fail to keep up Uni and drop out.My gosh,,,,some truly harrowing tales on here!
No blood or anything untoward for me, so will just have to hope for the best this afternoon!
The nurses will certainly have a good laugh, as my little chap is almost the same size as my navel, due to an umbilical hernia! My gosh,,,,some truly harrowing tales on here!

Remember, we'll all be thinking about you. As you get on that table with nothing between your shirt and your socks, we'll be thinking about you.
Feel free to send a selfie!I just trimmed my bush!
Times like this when you need a good woman.....
No don't send a selfie ! I like to see my dinner just the once ta
Good Luck AP15:45 is the time.
I actually feel really sick. Too much Gin and vino yesterday!
I can't remember having a hangover for at least 30 years.....
Good people...the power of forumites saved the day!
I was sick with worry after hearing all the harrowing experiences!
It was all very civilised and private.
Didn't get to pee on a helicopter, but just a funnel into a jug!
Just doctor and me for exploration.
A sonic probe on the prostate area, and what I thought was an extremely long finger up my botty, which was some kind of camera.
Result....flow a little slow and prostate slightly swollen but declared as nothing to worry about./
In and out in twenty minutes, and so relieved.
I'm one of the lucky ones, for a change....
Don't know what you were worried about, AP. We told you it was a doddle. So you didn't have to chase a helicopter drone around the room trying to pee on it with dozens of student nurses observing and making comments.
Very disappointing for all your fellow forumites.
Fu ck me having read through this I think the kindest thing would be to shoot the lot of us![]()
We will be Gone Soon Enough UFC
Good News AP well done ,I aint looking Forward to July is all I know
Does it seem more people are being diagnosed with cancer these days ? In the past it seemed only smokers got it.
Is it food production, mobile phones/masts or what ?
Admittedly success rates are up.
Well done AP !Perhaps Air Pollution is a Factor ? The air in Some Cities cant be doing People Much Good .People are living longer, they are the ones in later life developing cancers..Medical advances mean cases of cancer are identified more easily and earlier.Christ on a bike!
I'm yet to hit fifty, and this is what I've got to look forward too
I hope all of you with broken bits stay healthy and bravo for sharing. Could help a twit like me someday.Good news AP happy for you mateI had a near death experience a few years ago, my answer put on four stones
would of been ok if I was anorexic
trying to get the weight off but to many curries so little time
Don't know what the fuss is! Any problems, I go to the local Body Shop to get a new part! Much quicker than the NHS as no waiting list and the assistants are usually better looking than nurses. ps- If a man lives long enough he will develop prostate cancer. Many men die WITH prostate cancer than FROM it. Always be aware, but no exceptional need to be prostrate about your prostate!Leading causes of death in men in England and Wales 2012
Heart disease (37,423 men)
Lung cancer (16,698 men)
Emphysema/bronchitis (14,378 men)
Stroke (14,116 men)
Dementia inc. Alzheimer's (13,984 men)
Flu/pneumonia (11,063 men)
Prostate cancer (9,698 men)
Bowel cancer (7,841 men)
Lymphoid cancer (6,301 men)
Throat cancer (4,603 men)The survival rates for cancer are good, unfortunately the figures include all the easy to cure cancers like skin cancer which are on the increase.
That makes the figures look better than they really are.
The survival rates for the more serious types of cancers are still appalling.I am certainly in favour of cutting, in the right circumstances. As far as prostate is concerned, I am aware of many men who have undergone prostate surgery, where the side effects of the surgery (incontinence, erectile dysfunction) have caused more distress than the original condition. There are current advances in the treatment of prostate cancer which do not involve surgery. Also a PSA reading may be unreliable. Fortunately, at my old age, I am not showing any symptoms, so I guess the Grim Reaper will have to try something else.Dr C-throat cancer and lung cancer survival rates are low and are lagging well behind those of other cancers unfortunately.Yes Slicer, smoking and drinking have a lot to answer for.Leading causes of death in men in England and Wales 2012

The day I can't take a dump and wipe my own ar$e...........is the day I no longer want to be about
Unfortunately when you reached that stage there is very little you can do about it.Spot On Baron U can be Stage 4 not Know it Go Docs weeks to Live ,the Least of Worries will be ShyteingDeath by pneumonia victims are usually old . It ' covers' a multitude of sins'
If you're very old and are ill( with whatever ) and bed ridden, the risk of congestion of fluid on the lungs, is very very high.
Patients death certificate states pneumonia - because that got there first !
My wonderful brother who is 55 had a near fatal heart attack in January and he has just been diagnosed as having Lupus, his beautiful wife has got M.S. her Mum has got Alzheimer's and last week their dog died. Life sucks sometimes.
Slippy/ guys...... we're all cranky, but really is this not the time for support/help....I'm as guilty s anyone.![]()
