Do people still play Kerby ?

can't play it - all the kerbs have sunk into the ground over the years.
I looked at my old street. you need to get the government to replace them all.
5 billion quid nationwide.

I had to look up exactly what it is as I've never heard of it before, is it a Northern thing?

Wonderful free entertainment, the number of times we were chastised for knocking the heads off Mrs Bremners flowers, wasn't our fault she was one of the few in the road that had no car...!

Used to play it all the time, also one touch against the wall where you had to hit the ball against the wall from where the ball fell or if you could kick it before.

I used to play one touch at school often I.S. That's until I discovered playing "penny up the wall" risking my lunch money that is!

Great game like spoof.

These games are giving me some good ideas for my brothers 50th birthday party in june, he loved spoof, every weekend going to the bar in the early 90's a game of spoof was played before the loser bought the drinks. I remember spending over £200 before 1pm on a stag do in Brighton down to spoof. Spoofed for breakfast, then the first round, 2nd round & the third round, lost them all

I used to live in Kirkby. Couldn't play it in our street because it was a busy main road but we did risk our lives to get melted tar off the road in the summer to put on the tips of our arrows.Other games were, off ground​ tick and allalio. Kept us very fit.

They all have I pads/Tablets now, they wouldn't even have heard of it, and if you explained it, all you would get is "boring"

Reckon we had more fun playing kerby, along with the little breaks as you had to wait for the cars to pass by.

Remember once a Great Dane ran down the street grabbing the ball in his mouth and us chasing him to get our ball back, before the inevitable pop of the ball . Fortunately the owner then turned up and took us to the local shop to get us another

we called it kerbsy

think it was called kerbsy actually.

M1, even if you went to play kids at kerbsy or spoof they would rather play an app rather than the real thing.

You dont know how mad i am at kids in my family and this generation, my sister in law has a horse (£40 a week upkeep), her trying to make my nieces go up and experience it, no we have an app for that.

Used to play this in Castlemilk housing scheme as a kid...

Remember as a kid playing f a g cards. Played  in twos,  each with same number of cigarette cards.
This called for dexterity of the wrist ,holding card between first two fingers and thumb and flicking your wrist to send the card spinning out in front of you.
There were two versions,
1) each would flick a card in turn, out toward a wall. The one whose card landed on top of another, then collected all the cards on the floor. The winner was the one who embed up with all the cards.
2) a card would be stood up, leaning against the wall. Each player in turn would flick cards from their pack, with the intention of knocking the card down. When succeeding, the player gathered up all the cards on the floor. Again the one ending up with all the cards was the winner.
Played this before school started, at every break, and after school.

As I got Older we Played 10p up the wall ,Nearest Coin to the wall ,the thrower Tossed all the Coins ,Calling Heads or Tails keeping all correctly called Coins ,and So On ,it Could even get up to 50 p up the wall depending on the weeks pocket Money and previous
Success and the amount of others who could afford such investments .

On a skint Occasions , Games of 2p up the wall may have been participated in

used to put footballer cards against the wall and throw another card at them. the guy that hit the last card won all the cards.
you can play this with playing cards for fun.

Touching on what others have said, the kids of today will go into adulthood with no childhood memories.

Seeing someone mention spoof has put a big smile on my face sitting here remembering what a great time-laugh we used to have.Used to play all in time in and around the pubs in Orpington High Street with my dad and 5 or 6 others.He passed away last July and I have  loads of memories of 'pound a game,double for spoof,winner calls first'.He used to love calling six,regardless of the amount of players...lol....lucky tom mix..lucky tom mix...sitting here laughing to myself like a nutter just thinking about it...
