It's an illusion that nationalists everywhere are better for the UK long-term. Nor that a blown up EU would benefit anyone on the continent. Britain might get to feel more powerful, but very, very few people would actually be better off as far as finances or living standard would be concerned.

I think your heart is in the right place anx  but you are unable to stand back from your socialist viewpoint and examine what is going on and how we as socialists respond to living in a capitalist society.#
Does one follow our Labour party route or...............?

About 40 per cent of Jean luc Melenchons votes went to Macron , 50 per cent probably did not vote and Le pen got about 10 per cent

Am being told by russian media and neofascist websites that Macron is definitely gay anyway, dori. So no worries, Brigitte is merely a beard.

I have rattled on many times anx.  Socialists have no idea of strategy or policies to combat the right.  We have failed and the right have been continually correct on many issues.
again we have corbyn et all who fail on immigration and the eu - just for starters

dont forget us old Labour members were virulently ante eu till kinnock took over and bliar finished off socialism in the party

for good!!

Macron being a president without a parliamentary majority could be interesting
By:

It would've been even worse with Le Pen. Front National would've never come anywhere near a majority and working together with other parties would've been much harder for her.

but of course she could've gone to the old crybaby song of "everybody against us, THE PEOPLE"

The latest updates as exit polls suggest Emmanuel Macron has won 65.5% of the vote, with Marine Le Pen trailing behind on 34.5%.

Did you see how old hardcore Le Pen said in the Times that Marine doesn't have what it takes to be president? Still doesn't take too kindly to how she kicked him out of his own party it seems.

He bigged up Marion and his great grand daughter as coming up presidents however. What a wonderful family.

It is going to be difficult not to tell the french 'I told you so' in a few years time.  What is a banker going to do for the majority of people. Did anyone see Sky's programmes on the french problems.  Particularly the economy and the desperate youth unemployment.  This all happened under hollande. So how is one of hollande's finance guys(and rothschild banker) going to change anything to help.  They are tied to the euro for one thing.

France in particular always wanted to reign in the banks in the EU, regularly blocked in their plans by the UK.

In general, what's considered ultra liberal economic policies in France, is what the UK has long gone past already. France will still be a vastly more social place than the UK has been in a long time.
