Guardian says the men arrested are 40, 41 and 44; the woman is 40 as well. The victim's husband is 48.

The rozzers still keeping information under their hat, when these incidents seem odd and have lots of unanswered questions there's normally a good reason, there must be some sort of connection here -  early arrests, one guy handing himself in and the suspects simply don't look like burglars (and obviously not good at it).

You are right they don't look like burglars but what do they look like? Three or four middle-aged sorts, male and female, creeping about at night in balaclavas with a shotgun. It sounds more like something Miss Marple would investigate.

But if all four involved have been arrested already, why would the police give out any more information? I'd not read anything into that.

Typical middle-aged sex parties for bored peeps with too much dosh, maybe?

Perhaps 1 of them wasn't as 'nelly' as the other?

Kidnap attempt gone wrong? It doesn't take four people to burgle a house, let alone a shotgun. Some sort of bizarre revenge fantasy because his insurance company turned down a claim for a new washing machine? The whole thing makes no sense.

It's a big house..

Were all 4 there or 2 perhaps done for conspiracy?

Odd case indeed. I thought armed burglaries were extremely rare for a few reasons:

1) Sentences will double or treble if you carry/use a firearm.

2) Most burglaries are surely done when noone is home i.e you watch the gaff and learn the routines etc.

3) This aint America. Householders are not armed so why does a burglar need to be?
