Ms Bladon was stabbed several times in the chest while she travelled on a tram in Tzahal Square and died in hospital. A 57-year-old Palestinian man was detained at the scene.

Ms Bladon had been taking classes in bible studies, archaeology, and Hebrew at the Rothberg International School, part of the Hebrew University.

Police say the suspect, a resident of Ras al-Amud in east Jerusalem, was recently released from a psychiatric hospital.

Jerusalem police chief Yoram Halevy told the AFP news agency that the man was "very mentally disturbed".

The fact he had been released from a psychiatric hospital would suggest the report was accurateConfused

Doctors have know of the link between cases of extreme violent murder and certain parts of the world in particular but are reluctant to comment on what this link is..too close family relationships causing genetic problems.
Report lfc1971 April 15, 2017 9:09 AM BST
you see they will talk about mental health issues but will not comment on the mental and physical health issues and the reason for them.

this is the reason, it has little to do with politics or religion, just the sea in which everything swims.

major problem in Palestine.

other parts of the world also.
Report lfc1971 April 15, 2017 9:27 AM BST
until these things are talked about and addressed honestly then there will be a continuing problem with violence and madness.

People with mental health problems will always be susceptible to demagogues preaching religious hatred.Probably the best reason to support secular governments instead of religious dogmatism.
Report Injera April 15, 2017 11:42 AM BST
The killer's mental health is not relevant. Countless people battle depression, suicidal thoughts and anxiety without ever harming another individual. In fact it can often cause greater compassion and empathy in the individual.

Knife attacks are plentiful. Often carried out by a certain section of the population. Many Palestinians are killed by Israeli troops whilst comitting knife crimes.

The timing is also key. Easter.

Certainly strange how many mentally ill people want to harm others and not themselves, two mentally ill people that i know have to be watched and cared for as they are most likely to harm themselves.

Unless you think Israel has a vested interest in playing down the Islamist threat, I'd be inclined to believe that the bloke who was literally on his way home from psychiatric hospital was indeed a grade A nutter.

Exactly right KIW. Most murderers are mentally ill, it comes with the territory. Mentally ill murderers should be treated just like any other murderers.

Agree about the focus being  on the perp and not the victim but this piece of filth a 57 year old who was convicted of sexual abuse against his 11 year daughter in 2011 and was in state care for swallowing a razor blade (self harm) has just used his religion to escape his situation  ,people saying its mental illness but i dont agree at all ,its now becoming an excuse to murder ,he tried self harm but failed miserably but seemed to find the murder of a defenceless 20 year old no problem .Everyone should be able to see his appearance in court and judge for themselves his level of culpability ,this mental illness chestnut needs smashed with a sledgehammer ,its fake ,false and excuses the disgusting sectarian crime of the  hate murder of a complete stranger (i presume she was a stranger ?).

Israel has been plagued by these kind of attacks and all the palestinians come back with is to call it unjustified when the perps of car/truck/knife attacks get shot .Horrible state of affairs ,much work still to be done.

In Glasgow some nutter attacked people and then cut his own throat ,looked like he had a beard imo and not much being said about it ,wtf happened there ?

It's Israel = Palestine is next door, called Jordan. the nation was divided and Palestine became JORDAN(see the palestine flag vs Jordan flag) the population of the area was

1942
995,292 Muslims
484,408 Jews
127,184 Christians
As you can see the Christians got nothing.
If it was worked out by population as a ratio

Jordan would have had 61 percent - they got 77 percent.
Israel would have had 30 percent - they got 23 percent.
Christians would have 9 percent - they got zero percent.

The ROMANS named the province PALESTINE after they killed a million Jews and took them off the land. 70 AD. the Jews have always been there - some constituent stayed on the land. they were there when Muhammadans conquered the land after Muhammad's death.

not so sure the Romans named palestine

450 BC: Herodotus, The Histories[42], First historical reference clearly denoting a wider region than biblical Philistia, referring to a "district of Syria, called Palaistinê"[43][10][44] (Book 3[45]): "The country reaching from the city of Posideium to the borders of Egypt... paid a tribute of three hundred and fifty talents. All Phoenicia, Palestine Syria, and Cyprus, were herein contained. This was the fifth satrapy.";[c] (Book 4): "the region I am describing skirts our sea, stretching from Phoenicia along the coast of Palestine-Syria till it comes to Egypt, where it terminates"; (Book 7[46]): "[The Phoenicians and the Syrians of Palestine], according to their own account, dwelt anciently upon the Erythraean Sea, but crossing thence, fixed themselves on the seacoast of Syria, where they still inhabit. This part of Syria, and all the region extending from hence to Egypt, is known by the name of Palestine."

And it was all part of The Great King Xerxes, etc and ruled by the Persians before all of that when they invaded Greece and Sparta in 450 BC,etc. When do we ever stop and just get on with living together today instead of breeding hate from the past ?

500 bc - when israel was destroyed by Babylon, Daniel period. they returned back to the land.

"After the Battle of Carchemish in 605 BCE, Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, besieged Jerusalem, resulting in tribute being paid by King Jehoiakim. ... After the fall of Babylon to the Persian king Cyrus the Great in 539 BCE, exiled Judeans were permitted to return to Judah."
"According to the book of Ezra, the Persian Cyrus the Great ended the exile in 538 BCE,[14] the year after he captured Babylon.[15] The exile ended with the return under Zerubbabel the Prince (so-called because he was a descendant of the royal line of David) and Joshua the Priest (a descendant of the line of the former High Priests of the Temple) and their construction of the Second Temple in the period 521–516 BCE.[14]"

the land was in control of many countries.
