its def a local govt holiday and also a bank holiday. I don't think the labouring classes get a holiday.
In Australia if you don't get double time and a half on a public holiday then you must be working for an employer who comes from the third world and is bypassing all kinds of laws including paying you the award wage. As an employee you are probably also from the third world and either don't know any better or don't give a fxck.
