A blissful day at "The Hotel Du Vin" in York....

I had to speak, but with the worst sore throat ever, and just glad I got it settled in time, with copious amounts of pills and potions.

Question, I had a bit of a shock at the bar, and good job I only bought for three!

How much for a glass of red wine and a glass of white plus one bottle of ale.....(not my choice)

Is that 125, 175 or 250ml glasses of wine? Those are the measures they dispense at Spoons. Laugh

Wine is ridiculously priced in some pubs. A friend of mine was charged over £11 for a large glass of ordinary plonk (Pinot Grigio) a couple of weeks ago. I would have refused to pay!Surprised

should be £12 for that lot .

if you have the money though it doesn't matter - places are priced according to the clientelle,  not the quality of the product

I think it would depend on how much each individual item was and then they would add it all up. Say for example the wines were both priced at £7 each and the ale at £6, then the total would be £20.

Currently in a Hotel. Had a bottle of wine with dinner last night, £19.95.Cheapist on the list I might add, what swayed me towards the bottle was the fact that a 250ml glass of the said wine was £9.80.

“Good hotel, good location, bistro service variable”

You know you're in a Hotel du Vin and this one is a converted orphanage. Our room Petaluma, was in the annexe, short walk to main hotel. It was overly warm and the AC was near impossible to control. There is only one plug available for charging near one side of the bed, the rest were round pin plugs, very inconvenient. I personally dislike fixed hangers, implying you might steal them. Bed comfortable, lighting a challenge for putting on make up. Breakfast times are not clear (doesn't try until 08.00h on Sat) and the buffet wasn't regularly restocked and the buttering one day had melted and resolidified but was replaced when we asked. Dinner reasonable but the squid was cooked to within an inch of its life which was very poor. The staff were good and the hotel is convenient for the station and the town. Plenty of parking.

Mischief

I haven't been to a wedding for three years, plenty of funerals though in that time. Another one to go to on Wednesday Sad

To answer Aunty's question I would say a score.

I wasn't paying attention, as talking with someone else, so they ordered what they, wanted and I had put a £20 on the bar!

Got £0.42 back and don't know what was the size, but looking at it, it certainly wasn't the largest!
