I like the Box Tree in Ilkley. Only 1 star but not too shabby, unlike one of the diners when I was last there who was wearing jeans. Whatever happened to their dress code. Must have a word with management if it happens again.
Heston had his closed (The Fat Duck) for deplorable hygiene standards. I wonder how many of the mugs who ate the grub from his filthy kitchen raced to book when he re opened @ £255 per head + 12.5% service charge, + drinks.

Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons, Raymond Blanc's place in Oxfordshire
Absolutely superb food, with unparalleled service and a total joy from start to finish.
The Fat Duck was, erm interesting.
Definitely one for the hipsters rather than the foodies - the sort of place you go to be seen rather than enjoy the food. Too much smoke and mirrors (literally!) with very basic seating and ambience.

Winteringham fields is very nice been a couple of times Kenny, best to stay though. Its about 5 minutes over the Humber Bridge in Lincs.
Black Swan at Oldstead is also nice. The first time was excellent, the 2nd time it was a taster menu. We bought a take away on the way back.
NOT Yorkshire portions.

Just a means of separating 'some people'* from their money. The more stars the more you get fleeced.
True up to a point but you could say that of any luxury goods, but consider how many chefs work in a Michelin-starred kitchen. Someone's got to pay their wages.

Are you from Leeds KK? Maybe you, me and Aunty Post, and Huggy if he's up to it, could meet up and try "The Man Behind The Curtain" the Michelin Starred one in Leeds.

Kenny I've got a mate eats at that place. He's got a lot more money than I have and he uses it for business.
He has clients from all parts of the country and he takes them because a lot of them have heard about it and want to try it.
He says you get very little for your money and it wouldn't be his first choice. Getting a table is very difficult.

Apparently kim, as I said earlier the food's excellent of course, but there's loads of small dishes which the meal comprises of, which would not be to everyone's taste. I'm very keen to try The Tharavadu off Boar Lane, which was Michelin recommended without collecting a star. Very reasonable price and a great vegetarian range, for me.Plus it's next door to William Hill. I could easily pay for the meal with an arb or too.
Got a link for that Joel?

I went to the George Cinq in Paris, I think it was 2 or maybe 3 stars I can't remember as it was a few years ago. It was an absolutely amazing experience but I'm just glad I didn't have to pick up the tab, I could never justify paying such astronomical prices regardless of the quality of food and service.

I had my stag night dinner at Langan's Brasserie, I like that place as well. It's a bit of a London institution. Peter Langan owned it with Michael Caine if I remember correctly.

On the subject of London boys lunches, one of my best experiences was the St Georges Day lunch at the Grosvenor on Park Lane. The beef came in behind a piped band. Botham was one of the speakers and after a 5 hour liquid lunch 1700 blokes emerged ready to march on Poland. A cracking event!

Indeed ronnie I stayed at The George Cinq for the weekend with my then girlfriend and we went to The Crazy Horse Saloon nearby for dinner and the show, the bill for the weekend was simply stupefying. Her Dad paid for it all, God I miss that man
