It's all about the money now. Whoever will make the most money for the record company after all the hype and promotion. The record companies do not want talent and originality because they want to be able to market and control the product their way.

It's an unedifying Ed fest out there at the moment. I liked his early stuff - that got him where he is - and a couple of tracks he has written for others.
A lot his songs aren't exceptional at all for me, and the way things are right now he could put out the audio of a strangled cat (apologies in advance to Kenny Mann), and it would be in the top 5.

They seem to charge a huge amount to see these artists live. I think it's to compensate for the large drop in income they receive from record/album sales due to large scale pirating.
Live shows and not album sales is where most artists make their money these days.

Even during a thread about Ed Sheeran that has nothing to do with football whatsoever, KOD still manages to shoehorn in England's loss to Iceland at the Euro's last summer

this is precisely WHY he gets away with it.
There was a funny comment I read somewhere that said Sheeran is for people who find Coldplay a bit too edgy.
It's exceedingly bland, middle of the road, safe and uninspiring music. Enough to register a reaction, but nothing to overwhelm. The Michael McIntyre of music. Exactly the same as Adele, and before her Dido, although they both cornered the female whiny break up sector.
It's pop music for people who don't really like music. And there are positively millions of them prepared to chow down on this insipid swill.

and that's not to discredit Sheeran, all credit to him for his success, he seems to be rather likable, he's got a good voice and apparently is a good live act. Rather, it's just an observation that his success is not a measure of the quality of his output, which in itself is nothing new in music.

Couple of his songs are half decent but his album (X is it called?) is full of same-sounding fillers.
I used to give him some credit for being a songwriter, but after his recent out-of-court settlement for stealing some washed-up X factor's song, I'M OUT
