Wiki:

King Power

In 2007 Airports of Thailand PLC (AOT) ordered King Power out of Suvarnabhumi Airport as it found that King Power had colluded with politicians, AOT board members, and AOT officials to open at the airport without permission from the government.

It was found that the contracts were void because they were designed to avoid the Public-Private Joint Venture Act that requires a lengthy selection process for any investment worth one billion baht or more by the private sector in a state project. King Power filed lawsuits against AOT in the civil courts for nullifying their contracts.[11] To date, King Power remain at the airport and have recently applied for additional retail space.[12]

In 2009, King Power and its staff were accused of being involved in an elaborate scam involving extortion of tourists at its Suvarnabhumi Airport outlets. A foreign couple were arrested for shoplifting an expensive wallet then instead of being handed over to the police they were taken to a hotel where they were threatened with lengthy jail terms unless they paid cash to secure their freedom.

The couple allege they were innocent, that King Power were complicit in the scam, and that a foreign mediator, a Sri Lankan named Tony, handled the negotiations. King Power issued CCTV footage of the couple allegedly shoplifting and a denial they or their staff were involved. After this story broke several other similar cases came to light.

Ungrateful directors. Can echo the view that they deserve to be relegated for sacking the manager who did the impossible last season.

Their loss will be someone else's gain. Let's hop he gets another Premier club soon.

most Leicester fans glad to see him gone Shocked

so what is the whole point of winning the title , or is there any ?   they're all rambling about staying up - but why ? what for ? you won't be winning it again .

I live in a very confusing world i think . I don't get any of it .
Report Coachbuster February 23, 2017 10:37 PM GMT
If i felt like them i would simply support Chelsea - it would be easier .  Why don't they swap sides ?

The press have been talking about this for weeks, with the "Can Ranieri weather this storm?" or "Will he last, given these results?" and so on.
On TV, Radio and papers.
I wonder if it then becomes expected by the owners that sacking is the thing to do. They surely can't have expected more than they got.

Credit to Arsenal (which isn't something I'd usually say), they've been (the media) banging on about the demise of Wenger for years waiting for the big story and a nice earner, but he's still there. Not only that but with a record which nearly every other manager can only dream about.

Speaking generally (not just Leicester), it has been said that if the fans chant "sack the manager", the board panic and sack the manager.

Not sure that this is true today but the pundits used to say that the players get the credit when he team wins but the manager takes the blame when they lose.

Two points

- the number of Leicester fans, who have stated that if they were offered, at the beginning of last season You will win the Premier League title, but then be relegated next season, said they definitely wouldn't take it, beggars belief.

I would happily take two or three relegations if Sunderland could go through what they went through.

- Heard an interesting point, that if they wanted him gone, this is the only time they could do it,
because if they get through against Sevilla in the 2nd Leg, his position would be too secure.

I like Ranieri and he comes across as a charming and sincere man. However, despite his near miraculous achievement last season I think it's necessary to put a bit of balance on the whole thing. He's had a long management career and won trophies but his overall record can not be described as wonderful, witnessed as thus:

Napoli - sacked
Chelsea - sacked
Valencia - sacked
Juventus - sacked
Internazionale - sacked
Monaco - contract 'not renewed'
Greece - sacked
Leicester - sacked

Tbf, he was doing a very good job at Chelsea but Abramovich came in and decided Mourinho was the man to take the club forward.
Report STUDYFORM February 24, 2017 9:20 AM GMT
There aren't many jobs where a CV like that makes you wealthy and likely to get another well-paid position soon, especially at 65.

I'm not sure about the press's outpouring of grief for him. It's certainly not fair and yet another example of football club ownership in its current form being stupid, but Ranieri won't starve and everyone thinks well of him.

heartlessLaugh, he will be paid a very nice sum for being sacked, defo a case of that was then this is now, no team can afford to go down and theres where they are heading cos Leicester at the moment are awful

life isn't all about money  - atleast i hope it's not  -enough money is very important , although most wealth should be in the very few hands where it does the least amount of damage - not spread widely - that would be a horrific  scenario

I really enjoyed watching, and winning on them, last year but they are a shadow of that side this year.

I like ranieri from what I have seen but I think he got too much of the credit for the winning the league last year.  He certainly did not look that happy when they won the title.  Journalists and team mates also said that a lot of the credit should go to Nigel Pearson and the scouts for building the team, lets face it he only left about a month before the start of the winning season.
Report Burt06 February 24, 2017 8:27 PM GMT
not really. ranieri signed Kante and he made them tick last year and is doing the same for chelsea this year. he will be first ever player to win the prem league 2 years running with different clubs.
Report annie. February 24, 2017 8:50 PM GMT
Ranieri might have signed him, being the manager, but the credit for scouting him was apparently steve walsh who was assistant manager/head of recruitment.

Also, nearly all of the team behind Nigel Pearson before he was sacked were retained and I think had a hand in leicester's victory.

Alex Ferguson had some ropey years before he took off at Man utd.

No wiggle room now.

As a painter I don't judge my painting till I finish. I f i gave up a third of the way thru I'd have nothing at all.
