Well spotted Jack....they are only about 50cms at the moment, so just ok where they are for now.
Going to pick up some Dwarf Daffodils and Primulas today, for my empty pots that have Red Geraniums in the Summer.

Position: Sun, partial shade or shade. In full sun do not let soil dry out. Dry soil and full sun can cause leaf scorching. Watering: Water regularly during growing season. Do not allow soil to dry out completely. Do not overwater. Water less during winter, only make sure the root ball does not dry out. Hardiness: Fully hardy. Pruning: Prune into shape in late spring/summer. Well suited to be clipped into topiary shapes such as Buxus balls. Make sure all garden shears are clean to avoid the fungal disease Box blight (Cylindrocladium buxicola). Clean the shears in a bucket of diluted bleach and dip them again before moving on to the next plant. Remove flowers to encourage healthy and strong foliage. Soil: Well-drained. Fertile. Repot every two to three years. Feeding: During growing season top dress regularly with organic fertiliser or with slow release fertiliser granules. There is no need for plant feed during the winter period. Avoid high concentration of fast acting liquid fertiliser.

She has a row of them, practically touching each other planted in a void between two skins of a wall about 5 foot off the ground. Effectively in a trough about 9 inches wide by 3 foot deep. So they will be exposed. She waters well in the summer. Leaves them in the winter.
She thinks they either have the blight or are stressed by their position.

AP...... have you considered the possibility that someone with access to your address has tracked you down and inserted the said firework into your hanging basket to bring you puzzlement?
Surely this is more likely than a firework landing randomly in the basket.

It actually was a distinct possibility and, when I told my son he said he did it, but then he said he only said that for fun!
So have beaten the cr@p out of him, for the true truth.
He now insists he didn't do it!
Anyway I have some planting to do now......
