In a similar vein (and with a nod to The Pythons) you could say Genghis Khan may have been a destructive and genocidal warlord who murdered more than 10 million people but it's better than bottling it up isn't it. I thought most of his arguments were poor and it seems to me like he thinks he can only get anything out of this by fighting dirty rather than presenting reasoned arguments.
The thing about all the facts being on the table and the lies about 350 million and we didnt know what we were voting for....it all fails to acknowledge the point of a referendum imo.

The reason we had a once in a generation vote was to put the decision in the populations hands. Not to put the decision in the hands of whichever bunch of politicians could come up with the most convincing arguments while adhering to a strict code of honesty and good faith. Of course politicians will spin the truth and try to convince you of what suits them. Thats the whole reason the movement to have a referendum to put it in the populations hands became so compelling.

To argue that referendums are only valid if politicians are holding everyones hand along the way, is to argue that referendums are a waste of time.
