What's with this ridiculous fashion with gents suits?
I don't wear a suit any more.
Used to wear them every day and even when we went out for a family meal I felt more comfortable dressed up.
Have worn one just once for a funeral since 2009 and it was too tight as indeed they all are.
I need to buy a new one, just for a wedding, but it seems that you need to be built like a stick insect!
Jackets too short and pulling on the buttons, and with minimum lapels,
Trousers to short and skinny.
Is there a drastic fabric shortage, or is it a good way for manufacturers to maximise profits?
Few will know that, when suits were expensive in the day, the term "wide boy" was given to those that had suit jackets
with extra wide lapels, and double breasted, to indicate how successful they were, or for the pretense of such!

Most people only wear suits these days for court appearances. The reason they are all slim is to help the convict to lose weight so he can escape by slipping between the cell bars.
I stopped having to wear suits around 1991. I had to get a suit c. 1996 and my wife found one in an Oxfam shop. I still have it and brush it down for weddings and funerals.
I bough a suit in 1994 because I got invited to 4 weddings and a funeral that year. Then I found out that people don't dress up to go to the cinema any more. 
narrow lapels have been fashionable for some time and the reduction in size for off the peg suits, one assumes, is the belief that a tighter suit looks as though it's been fitted.

my real bugbear is a suit with a shirt that's been buttoned all the way up with no tie. Firstly, ties are great, but moreover, it looks like you've been dressed by your carer and they had to change your adult nappy and forgot to put your tie on.

The fashion seems to be/have been tight shirts, v neck jumpers etc.
A great look if you are about 18 and 10 stone. Not so good into your fifties and 14 stone plus.

Ever since I saw Dermot O'Leary in a suit 2 sizes too small on X Factor (every fooking week), I decided to wear onesies.
Never looked back, although I occasionally get strange looks at Golf Club dinners.

Dermot O'Leary's suits were ridiculous, and he had a penchant for wearing tan coloured shoes with everything!
