and thats the reason it doesn't fit with the people who pray regularly. But i know from my experience that in rural areas of the subcontinent, and areas of middle east too, its hard to imagine a household without a dog.

I lived with a family that cooked everyday for their dog, right after they had cooked their own food. But they never allowed the dog past a specific point in their house(im talking big rural house here). The dog knew that too. His sole purpose was security and its hard to imagine a household not having one. If you dont have a dog, you need to be extremely poor to ensure against robbery. And since people have big land, sometimes 4-5 dogs is common. Again, only for security.

Also, since most muslim countries are developing countries, lack of vets might be another reason. People aren't rich in the first place, so how much will it cost if you want to keep a dog, that too in an area with no vets? Basic health service is sometimes not available for humans so inviting a dog to live with you is allowing new diseases in.

but all these factors are secondary. Its an unclean animal for them and that reason alone probably results in over 80% of them not keeping the dog as an indoor pet.

Detraveller - I had another collie that was brought up on a farm in Loch Maben, and the farmer got rid of the dog when the dog was six, due to the dog's pancreatic disease. He could no longer function as a working sheepdog.

When the dog came into our house, he refused to go into the kitchen. After about 2 weeks, I eventually coaxed him into the kitchen and kinda gradually ruined his training, whatever it was...but he would creep into the kitchen like he was cowed.

The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: When any one of you stands for prayer and there is a thing before him equal to the back of the saddle that covers him and in case there is not before him (a thing) equal to the back of the saddle, his prayer would be cut off by (passing of an) ass, woman, and black dog. I said: O AbuDharr, what feature is there in a black dog which distinguishes it from the red dog and the yellow dog? He said: O son of my brother, I asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) as you are asking me, and he said:
The black dog is a devil.

One morning Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) was silent with grief. Maymunah said: Allah's Messenger, I find a change in your mood today. Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said: Gabriel had promised me that he would meet me last night, but he did not meet me. By Allah, he never broke his promises; and Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) spent the day in this sad (mood).

Then it occurred to him that there had been a puppy under their cot. He gave an order and it was turned out. He then took some water in his hand and sprinkled it on the place. When it was evening Gabriel met him and he said to him: You promised me that you would meet me the previous night. He said: Yes, but we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture.

So the very next morning he commanded the dogs to be killed. He announced that the dog kept for the orchards should also be killed, but he spared the dog used for the protection of extensive fields (or big gardens).

those children brought up in farms and around animals are less likely to suffer from Allergies.

the Islamic countries are imploding. They are doing a remarkable job of killing themselves.
