Muhammad stole the old testament, changed what Jesus did? Jesus never died? remember that the new testament was around 500 years at the time he was telling his followers what Jesus really did?
The old testament has a lot of rules what not to eat, a lot is because some foods in heat quickly go ff and get contaminated by parasites. Pork is a notorious food which even today is tricky. Always wash your hands thoroughly frying up bacon. Muhammad even took Pegasus and renamed him Buraq. He took stories from a lot of sources. What really gets me is he never sets foot in Jerusalem. But he has a dream? (this is a dubious account) a dream where he visits Jerusalem on Buraq and ascends to heaven from there? Because of this dream Jews are denied the Temple Mount Their primary religious site. This seems like sour grapes from the Muslims to stymie the Jews. A poisoning of the waters. "they traveled to the "farthest mosque". The location of this mosque was not explicitly stated but is generally accepted to mean Al-Aqsa Mosque (Temple Mount) in Jerusalem even though the Al-Asqa Mosque did not exist during Muhammad's lifetime, as he died in 632 and the Mosque was not constructed until 691 AD" wiki the Rashidun Caliphate The Muslim Arab army attacked Jerusalem, held by the Byzantine Romans, in November, 636. For four months the siege continued. Ultimately, the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem, Sophronius, agreed to surrender Jerusalem to Caliph Umar in person. Caliph Umar, then at Medina, agreed to these terms and traveled to Jerusalem to sign the capitulation in the spring of 637. Sophronius also negotiated a pact with Caliph Umar, known as the Umariyya Covenant or Covenant of Omar, allowing for religious freedom for Christians in exchange for jizya, a tax to be paid by conquered non-Muslims, called "dhimmis." Under Muslim Rule, the Christian and Jewish population of Jerusalem in this period enjoyed the usual tolerance given to non-Muslim theists.[3] [4] |

I had a few friends from Iran at University in Nuremberg a few year back and they had no trouble eating pig. And drinking. I remember I asked one girl about it but i dont remember her answer(I can only recall her lovely smile when i asked her that question). One reason why it could be so hated is because it is, as per my knowledge, explicitly mentioned in the Koran. Any meat on whose slaughter Allah's name is not taken is haram, but then there is pig. That is why you see many people who were born in Europe, that they will eat at a mcdonalds that is not halal, but they wont eat the McRib, because its pork.
Similarly it says anything that makes you drunk, or lose control of yourself, is not allowed. But then it explicitly mentions alcohol, which is why you see people doing drugs, weed, ciggerets but wont even touch alcohol. THis is what i understand at least. |

The site definitely existed at Muhammad's time. That was where they faced during prayers for a few years, before they changed it to Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The farthest mosque was 'one' of the mosques at Temple Mount. There are 4 i guess inside the walled boundary. The ones that existed before the construction of Al-Aqsa mosque do not exist as independant mosques now as they serve the Al-Aqsa mosque(school, library, office/residence of imam etc). It makes sense that the muslims considered it their holy mosque because it was under christian control at that time and Muhammad claimed to be a prophet of the same God that the christians believed in, and prayed to. So unless Muhammad built a new mosque to celebrate his prophethood, it was understandable that his followers faced the same mosque while praying that the christians faced? |

Because the pigs keep catching and arresting them.
So Zorro, you say that much of what Muhammed done and said was attributed to stymied waters? Yet you take your own book verbatim when it was written many years after your leaders death? Pot, kettle, black springs to mind. |

shouldn't it read ...
why is it islam eats pig? But they don't. Nutters |

By:
Pigs and foreskins are health risks in dry/desert climates when there are a lack of hygiene protocols.
Unsurprisingly these sensible customs became enshrined in the dominant social system these societies subscribed to, namely religion. |
|
By:
Who eats foreskins?

By:
You dont have to eat something for it to be a health risk.

Pigs are beautiful creatures, have great personalities. My parents used to keep nearly 100 in wood near there house, watching them being born and then growing into massive things was a joy. Real shame they gave it up.

Jews and Muslims followed God's teaching on not eating animals with split hooves that don't eat the cud.
On health grounds I guess. |

Muhammad took a book that was around for 500 years and still exists intact in original condition. Carbon dated. thousands of original fragments exist fro the first century in collections around the world.
If I take Harry Potter, off the shelf and change some names and try and republish... what happens to me? I'm called a thief, a plagiarist. Buraq is Pegagus. a white winged horse. he's obviously hearing tales told by travellers and just co opting them. It's sad that anyone believes a man with little imagination of his own. Muhammad is a proven liar. By the timeline. Jesus 33AD - Muhammid seventh century. |
|
By:
Muhammad may be a proven liar but unlike jesus we know he was a real person
|
|
By:
A more interesting question would be why don't we eat horse meat?
|
|
By:
Because there are less strict rules about what medication can be given to horses which would be bad health wise for people

Hormones etc

Nope

I have always thought this whenever people have questioned Muhammad.
If Muhammad was a liar, and wrote a book of fiction, the humans would have to be really stupid to actually believe, follow, memorize, and safeguard the book in a way that not a word has been added to or deducted from it. Even if we were to say all his followers are stupid, surely someone from the non-followers would have done something over the course of 1450 years to prove it wasn't real? I have heard of people trying to find mistakes in the Koran and have at the end themselves converted. But I have never verified these stories, so cant say if they are true. And lets not forget, his religion is still the fastest growing in the world, especially in Europe and America. So if it is all a work of fiction, or copied, surely the guy deserves even more credit to actually take his work so far and influence so many people for centuries? just with a work of fiction? Do you people realize that calling his work fiction or calling him a liar actually makes him even more impressive and powerful? Is there anyone comparable to him in this regard? Just wondering... |

and there is nothing impressive about getting people to accept dogma. our brains are wired to prefer it over a state of continued questioning and uncertainty.
history is littered with people following crazy ideologies and their common feature is their dogmatic nature. |
|
By:
and not only are we easily seduced by dogma, we're absolutely brilliant at not wanting to admit we're wrong once we've chosen to accept it. we are driven to avoid cognitive dissonance.
all of this has big evolutionary advantages in a group society. groups that were able to motivate large numbers of its members simply and with longevity would have had huge advantages over those that vacillated and ruminated. |

Islam tends to copy hardcore Judaism, and pigs were seen as being unclean animals, which, to be fair, they were, as pork harboured parasites up until the 1950s.

Why do they Hate dogs ?
|
|
By:
In the ancient middle east, dogs were associated with disease and dirt...they wouldn't have been like modern domesticated pets but would have been scavengers and half-wild...maybe some dogs had rabies?
Twice, dogs are talked about in conversations with Jesus...the dogs that licked the shunned man's sores...and the dogs that ate crumbs that fell from the rich man's table...U2 turned this into a song... I had a female collie that used to roll in fox sh1t when I walked her in the countryside...again, dogs ain't that clean... ![]() |

Why is it that Islam hates pig?
They believe the swine to be a filthy animal that eats it's own faeces. Possibly some truth in this. On another note, many moons ago in England human waste was fed to the swine and then the swine was consumed by the human. You are what you eat, |
