The Clare Balding skit was OK.

Yes, tend to agree, but liked the stuff she did after she moved to the States and liked her pop music before she left these shores. But as you say, very talented, but not very funny. But you can say that about a lot of 'comedians' these days, both male and female.

Ma hairy back and sturgeon was not meant to be funny, it was a documentary.

2/5 from me. Some bits I laughed, most I groaned.

How would the Christian sketch have worked with another peaceful religion?

Sketch shows have seemed to replace funny with clever.
The last Harry and Phil had great make up, character acting, and voice impressions, but the script
just wasn't funny.

Agree completely.

Apparently they have script writers.

They should be sacked.

Mike Yarwood, speaking to Bob Monkhouse recalled a time when he realised he was relying on just looking like the subject and disregarding the strength  of the writing. Tracy fallen into the same trap.

Disagree. I think Tracey Ullman has fallen into the French and Saunders trap. Remember those brilliant film parodies F+S used to do? They were clever but to be funny, you had to know the original.

Last night Tracey Ullman gave us, to take one theme, sketches about the German Chancellor, and the Scottish First Minister and one of their MPs, and JK Rowling's take on the Scottish referendum of 2014. Great for the politics forum but this is chit chat.

Satire rather than comedy, perhaps.

Like the other recent woman who had a similar show, Morgana Robinson, the impressions were good, the make up was good, even the acting was good.
There seems to be no idea of what is funny, among TV writers and TV producers. I mean, surely they can't lol when they go through the script and you'd think that would be a pre-requisite.
It simply just wasn't funny.
