According to some the reason it collapsed was that the E.U. were to blame Laughnowt to do with excessive rain and debris and trees crashing into it for years..

You may mock but the rain came initially from Europe and the trees were brought down by wind which originated in Africa. Bloody foreign Johnnies all of 'em.

Good job he didn't put a penny towards the bridge repair ,your beer remains the same price!..

For a brief moment I thought Breedingmad was going to celebrate a magnificent feat of British construction,a homage to the workers who built it,it was just that a brief moment,I should have known it would be a sneer nd a jeer.

Is there anything in Britain this man likes or admires.

Only himself.

The original bridge was Roman and probably put up in a fraction of the time it has taken us today. Proof, if proof were needed, of the utter folly of Brexit.
Report wildmanfromborneo February 3, 2017 4:00 PM GMT
That last post encapsulates the self loathers.

The bridge was built in 1700.
A bridge was there before it but it certainly wasn't built by Romans.

Tadcaster was where the York road crossed the river in Roman times. They built bridges across the mighty Rhine, so I don't think it would have challenged Roman engineers unduly. As usual, the Brexiteers suffer a failure of imagination .

Not alone does United Biscuits hate British history he also knows nothing about it.
The Romans were long gone when that early Tadcaster Bridge was built.

This is the bit he will hate,it was designed by Brits and built by Brits.

... tbf probably Brits of Danish, German, Norman or Roman descent

Just because there are no remains of a Roman bridge does not mean that it did not exist.
In fact, I declare that it did exist. I see it clearly. The Remainer imagines a bridge the Leaver sees only an obstacle.
Report wildmanfromborneo February 3, 2017 7:17 PM GMT
Its so significant that Remainers can't bring themselves to give Britain praise for anything.
