He can be heard refusing to give them his name. “I’ve done nothing wrong,”
Not his wisest move! Grin

Those police officers should get 10+ years in prison.  But that won't happen because "they were only doing their duty".
Report Breedingmad January 20, 2017 1:56 PM GMT
Yes,but his neighbor vouched for him and he wasn't a threat the police were a threat.
Report donny osmond January 20, 2017 2:00 PM GMT

Report broadsword January 20, 2017 2:04 PM GMT

A police officer has powers to stop you at any time and ask you:

    what you’re doing
why you’re in an area and/or where you’re going

However, you don’t have to answer any questions the police officer asks you
Report Breedingmad January 20, 2017 2:15 PM GMT
A police officer has powers to stop and search you if they have ‘reasonable grounds’ to suspect you’re carrying:

    illegal drugs
    a weapon
    stolen property
something which could be used to commit a crime, eg a crowbar

You can only be stopped and searched without reasonable grounds if it has been approved by a senior police officer. This can happen if it is suspected that:

    serious violence could take place
you’re carrying a weapon or have used one
you’re in a specific location or area

Before you’re searched

Before you’re searched the police officer must tell you:

    their name and police station
what they expect to find, eg drugs
the reason they want to search you, eg it looks like you’re hiding something
why they are legally allowed to search you
that you can have a record of the search and if this isn’t possible at the time, how you can get a copy

Never mind all that. Maybe the police were right to stop him and maybe he should have answered their questions. Maybe the police had mixed him up with a wanted man. All that could be true but it is beside the point.

Why did they taser him? What threat did he pose? Did the police mistake his front door key for a submachine gun, for instance?

From the Mail report, tasering him was unprovoked and unjustified.
Report Dotchinite January 20, 2017 2:23 PM GMT
You dont have to answer but of course if you dont it increases the chances of you being tasered.
Report donny osmond January 20, 2017 2:25 PM GMT
they are supposed to warn before using taser not as it is fired

its like a police training exercise video showing how not to be a policeman
Report Makybe_Diva January 20, 2017 3:07 PM GMT
Well done the guy recording it all. I hope the poor man is alright.

I'm jolly glad the dog stayed calm or that would have been tasered too and probably put down if it had bitten one of the officers.

Thank goodness that female officer didn't have a real gun.
Report rogerthebutler January 20, 2017 4:51 PM GMT
Police being investigated, where all evidence including this video presumably will be submitted, and the WPC has been banned from using her taser until the enquiry is through.

Textbook response to the matter IMO

Bt hey-ho this is Britain 2017, where loud demands of outrage before verdicts are reached, trump quiet measured analysis.

A certain section of your population hate the police,it used to be criminals now its an alliance of Liberals and the religion of peace.

I and all my family learned  to respect the police, answering questions put by them doesn't seem unreasonable.

This does give you an idea of the attitude of those in the grievance industry
Report G1_Jockey_4 January 20, 2017 8:01 PM GMT
"it used to be criminals"...i suppose they respect them now hey?

idiot
Report Breedingmad January 20, 2017 8:20 PM GMT
They may is well stand in town with a placard saying The end of the world is nighLaugh
Report wildmanfromborneo January 20, 2017 8:38 PM GMT
No GI Jockey they have been joined by people like you.

Its a relatively new phenomenon part of the Liberal self loathing that hates your culture, your history and all your institutions.
Probably why a lot of them like burning poppies and shouting obscenities at returning soldiers.

Oh the problems that the right wing can solve...
Report s.kenbo January 20, 2017 9:24 PM GMT
I thought exactly the same thing about the dog, Makybe. I couldn't imagine my dog would be so calm under the same circumstances.
Report donny osmond January 20, 2017 9:27 PM GMT
According to Avon and Somerset Police guidelines "you do not have
to give your name, address or date of birth to the police if you're stopped and
searched unless you are being reported for an offence.'
Report tobermory January 21, 2017 1:28 AM GMT
Police idiots !

You always get people on here that will defend absolutely anything the police do .
Report Breedingmad January 21, 2017 1:39 AM GMT
They were unnecessarily stupid with the Guy they will pay the price by losing their jobs the tazer rule was broken
along with many others, they are not fit to Police.
Report tobermory January 21, 2017 1:58 AM GMT
Someone mentioned here a while back how the proliferation of not very formidable looking WPCs has coincided with a taser epidemic

Seem to pull the trigger  almost on sight of any bloke who is not immediately subservient to their often unreasonable demands.
