BANK CLOSURE SHOCK Two hundred jobs go and 40 branches shut as Clydesdale Bank announces massive cut

Stopped going into banks years ago when EVERY time the tellar asked "Do you have home insurance".

Do the cashiers need experience these days or just Min wagers ?

Cannot be technology's fault, Brexit is to blame.

They probably would have doubled their staff if we where still in the EU.

I bet most jobs lost will be UK born citizens who more than likely voted remain

So they will be blaming Brexit for sure

No one signs anymore just get a doctors note the depression epidemic is real

Plus many doing 10-16 hours these days not 40

The next generation are going to be fast food servers or call centre assistants

The Banks are pushing their websites, online banking and mobile apps right in our faces 24/7, then turn round and blame consumer demands as the reason for bank closures. Online banking is cheap to operate when compared to high street branches, less overheads = more profits = happy share holders, which is every PLC's holy grail, feck the customer , feck the employee. e.g. Paddy Power Betfair plc

Been with the Clydesdale all my life but with the fact that there is literally no branches any more (my nearest 2 have closed in last 5 years and next 3 closest are due to shut) and the fact that a lot of banks give you between 100-200 quid to switch to them it begins to seem a no brainer to move to one of the purely online banks.

My main bank is nationwide and i have never stepped foot in a nationwide bank i don't think

Not many Banks have branches in the East End of Glasgow mind, for obvious reasons.

Yep and inflation running at only 1.6% whilst wages have risen by 2.8%.  All good news.

It was far worse when I signed on years ago I was refused a claim because I answered two questions wrongly
one was why do you think you will find a job I put I have a Bike.The next question was Give another
reason you think you can gain employment I put I can ride a Bike.. Wasn't too bothered as was getting barred
from all the bookies an was loaded..

Automate the jobcentre - come on, get rid of the sour pussed advisers.

Banking has been revolutionised and is hardly recognisable from where it was even just 20 odd years ago.

And yet, they still can't clear a cheque in less than 3 WORKING days
