some good ideas here for meals costing a maximum of £1 per portion

pitta bread, cheese, tomato sauce. - mini pizzas.

beans, tikka sauce, - wash beans of crap tom sauce, in pot with water boil for minutes, put in tikka sauce. with toast or without. mince can be added.

broccoli, add a spoonful of saesame oil to boiling water - nice. add salt.

cheap noodles with a tin of mackerel fillets in sunflower oil.

uncooked porridge oats with yogurt and jam.

fondant potatoes - fry ends of potatoes in butter, then oven cook.

baguettes with tomato and butter - add salt. with tea.

ALL BASIC stuff to keep you going - chips too.

One chicken - £4
+ rice,potatoes,tomato,peas.Cooking sauce,garlic,spices,gravy -  £3

Roast chicken.

2 meals with mash,peas,gravy ( dinners)
2 meals of cold chicken sandwiches ( lunches)
3 meals of curried chicke, with sauce,toms, potatoes  ,peas ,garlic and spices.( dinners)

7 meals @ £1 a rime ( average)

Tin of chickpeas, tin of tomatos, half an onion finely chopped, bit of garlic and spice up with whatever you have in the cupboard{ chilli powder or turmeric for me] serve over a bed of rice/pasta/couscous. Any left over sauce, whack it through a blender or spud mash it and eat as a dip with a raw carrot or two. Cheap and healthy. You might even have some change.

Pkt. Sage and Onion stuffing, oxo cube boiling water

Prepare stuffing plate up, pour over hot oxo jus = sunday dinner

For Greek version make stuffing into balls pour over tin tomato soup = soutzoukakia
