Report Breedingmad January 17, 2017 1:49 PM GMT

Report ZenMaster January 17, 2017 1:51 PM GMT
This idea became the slogan emblazoned on the side of the Vote Leave campaign bus – “We send the EU £350 million a week; let’s fund our NHS instead” – which was unveiled on 11 May.

No mention of giving £350 million a week.

Nothing wrong with this BM, barring the £350 million a week was the gross figure of what the EU had control over.

I wonder how many here own their own businesses.
Manufacturing an item. Then sell it.

If you need to import something to complete. Items you cannot get anywhere else.  ie japanese micro engineered motors for instance.
Very expensive.  Also import duties (occasionally - not always, plus hefty postage)

You then manufacture using said component.  What then happens - regardless of tariffs, duties etc etc etc??

Completed item.  What happens next.  Come on all you experts.
Report ZenMaster January 17, 2017 2:01 PM GMT
Yes let's spend the £50

What you need to say BM is

'I give my mum £50 a week, let's spend it in the pub every week'

Otherwise you are only suggesting spending one £50 in the pub.

Exactly lfc -  but the europhiles do not understand the nature of business - especially manufacturing.  There will be even greater opportunities not being shackled.
To be quite honest, it wouldn't really matter what tariffs etc are in place. You will still import, produce and then export where necessary at a profit.  The most important is the PROFIT.  If consumers want your product you will sell.  It really is so very very simple.

Squirrels are a better prospect.  You can feed them stale bread rolls and as they scamper down the top of the fence - you can beat them with a broom handle. They are delicious if Spit Roasted over an open fire.  Very popular is that spit roasting.

The statement is clearly made in plain English that this money would be re-routed to the NHS. It's not an implication -it's a statement.
It does not follow that this re-routing would be in the mirror-image form of weekly tranches of £350m

Gisela Stuart, who co-chaired the official campaign to leave the EU, downplayed the policy, which her organisation emblazoned on the size of a large red bus during the campaign.

“No, the NHS was the example of that if you’re spending that amounts of money and you don’t have control of what to do with it, I would spend it on the NHS. It was about taking control of your spending decisions,” the eurosceptic Labour MP told the BBC’s Daily Politics programme
