Brilliant progamme. Really enjoying it. Though it doesn't really inspire me to want to visit Central America. Honduras in particular comes across as one scary country.

Over egging the 'this is one of the most dangerous places in Central America' ......hardly breaking news .

Yeah, it is done for dramatic effect no doubt. Still looked like somewhere you would go out of your way to avoid, mind.

that's what didnt understand, why didnt he give that dodgy town a wide berth ?

Seems to be the same formula each time I see this guy. There always seems to be an area with a terrible reputation that they would need a fixer to help them get through. Surely not necessary to go that way, but they do it anyway. There's always a strange vehicle following them, which they express a lot of concern about. Said vehicle eventually stops and 2 or 3 dodgy looking types show off a gun or 2 and give them a few horror stories before shaking hands and "letting them go". Then they spend the next 10 minutes wondering why they were being asked so many questions and wondering if they might bump into these guys again. It all seems very staged. I'm not knocking the idea, walking the Americas seems a fun thing to do if you have the money, and I realise they have to make it good television, but it's all been done so many times before on various continents. I'm sure I saw the same guy doing and saying the same sort of things in another series in Africa and possibly South America or Asia. All very formulaic, but fair play to them for having the stamina to do it.

One of the walkers died on the Nile walk so I doubt they are as well looked after as you might think, Des Pond. You are right about the formulaic structure and Levison Wood does come over as a bit of a show off. But fair to play to him, they are tough challenges and not many people would be able to complete them. I enjoy the programmes anyway, interesting to see parts of the world I have never (and probably never will) visited in person.
