East Suffolk - there was a foot of snow in the fields yesterday

All gone today!!

Unfortunately due to 40mph winds. all the snow is now in the roads

4ft drifts everywhere and bitterly cold

carnage

PS I saw a woman wearing a pair of scholl clogs this morning walking down the High St.

Its brilliant. 3 to 4ft on the footpaths and fields where I am, its the best start to March in years, no rain and plenty of snow Happy

Leave the roads alone and its all good

Shows how useless this country is prep wise though doesn't it. My mum is a carer and had to go home because the car can't get up slight inclines, the tyres slip. hospitals on "major incident" alerts because of it, home patients not getting visits, homes without electric, gas supposedly running low, military called in etc. it really wouldn't take a lot to conquer this island if they really wanted to.

You know what comes next after freezing icy roads?

Potholes Potholes and more Potholes. Potholes everywhere. Weave your vehicles around all the potholes to avoid damage. Crumbling roads  looking like swiss  cheese is what we've got to look forward to.Sad

Watching the news this morning ,it appears the bad weather is in the south and Scotland again.
Not a mention that the M62 has been shut since yesterday between East Lancashire and West Yorkshire nor that people were stuck on it until the early hours.

Yes cold again doon south

A van overturned on the M2, nothing new there just what sort of idiot drives with such lunacy to overturn a van in snow on a motorway?

About time we started locking these people up or taking away their licences!

In America they manage to drive big tanks with rear wheel drive throughout the winter. What is wrong with us? So pathetic!

This afternoon may be bad in Kent.  There may be more snow or the feared Ice Storm. If it is the latter then there really is no point trying to drive. I am waiting till tomorrow to go to Londinium. The snow should be softer tomorrow morning.

Last weekend - before all this started - I thought I'd better check the oil tank as it was last filled about 10 weeks ago. Got a shock when I found it was almost empty. Delivery is 5 days but now held up because of drifting snow, so been stuck at home all week, can't get to work and can't run the heating as trying to preserve what we do have for hot water. Its cold indoors, but we've layered up and actually - it's amazing how quickly you get used to it. Not especially uncomfortable after three days of acclimatizing. Going back 50 years we were brought up without central heating and must have got by just fine. Anyway - Mrs S has just ordered an oil tank sensor on Amazon.

Since the snow came all the wife has done is look through the lounge window.

If it gets any worse, I'll have to let her in.

Its is below freezing in Kent and I think we are in for the Ice Storm!

I went out to the car but thought it was a little pointless to even scrape the ice off. The side windows had iced up already which is a sign for me that it ain't happening! I nearly slipped twice with boots!

I heard one dumb couple caught up in a drift in their car did not have any cold weather clothes, food or drink and were stuck in their car for 16 hours...GOOD!

I personally think that any cars that block the roads in snow should be bulldozed off the road. Maybe that might make people think twice about making unnecessary journeys in perilous weather!

People will try to drive though, and will try to drive on dry tyres because we have a nation of dumb people. BBC ran a story yesterday asking people from Finland how they keep warm, i mean really?, if people don't know how to keep warm then we really are a nation of dummies.

Walking a dog this morning for my paper at the local shops and sympathised with the newsagent. His reply made me smile, apparently he thought about shutting up but this has been his busiest week as most people have avoided supermarkets and gone local. Supplies to supermarkets on JIT have been haphazard because of the snowed off roads.

Lidl supermarket destroyed 'by looters' after snow storm.....

Police in Dublin said on Friday they had made several arrests after an attack on a supermarket hours after the city was hit with its worst snowstorm in decades.

The Lidl supermarket had been looted, according to several Irish media outlets, but police and the owner of the supermarket declined to provide details of the incident.

State broadcaster RTE showed video footage from social media of a mechanical digger pulling down part of a wall of the supermarket.

Another video, posted online by the Irish Independent newspaper, showed people walking away from the back of the store with what appeared to be items from the store.

German discount store Lidl said in a statement there had been a serious incident at its store in southwest Dublin that was being investigated by police. It said the store was closed at the time and no one was injured.

Seems like the snow Armageddon never happened Laugh not one mention of it on the BBC/SKY now, they made a big thing of it for 2 or 3 days and now its like it never existed.

The last of our snow has just been washed away by an hours rain... the end. got to think there's a big agenda with everything they push though.
