What does this actually achieve ,Apart from visiting a Dead rock Plain

Was listening to a guy discussing a Black hole 38 million Light years away ,who actually gives a Fck ?

How much money has been wasted by nations..

Understand the need for satellites etc ,but that is about all that is needed imo

People still cracking on about going to Mars ,Why ? There is nothing there ..

"Because it's there".

This thread is really going to spoil the enjoyment next time I watch Red Dwarf.

I've said all this before and all I got back was "we discovered wifi up there".

To answer this, shedloads of people. You either have an interest in the science of the universe around you or you don't.

i believed that we owed the life changing invention of non-stick frying pans to space travel but apparently that's a load of pony.

its a great way for nations to project their strength even if they are actually bankrupt.

they may discover what planet lfc originally came from Grin

i think they discovered a way of sticking non sticky stuff to a space ship

Long term, it would be the only chance to save humanity if e.g. a meteorite hits, bad nuclear war, and of course the sun is eventually going to get stroppy and toast the earth anyway. We're running on a clock here. AS to whether it's a good thing if humanity spreads, that's another thing!

I loved the south park episode where they go into space and the god botherers start trying to spread religion to aliens. You could just see it. :)

we could just fire off our dna in a fleet of rockets, , some will find a suitable planet one day, and we can
start again

I listened to a Podcast the other day where the value of nasa was calculated at around $6/$1 spent but done a quick Google

I don't think we spend enough. The pursuit of knowledge is our duty.

The ONLY thing that matters is that the SUN comes up tomorrow morning  -

- Because - If it does NOT - then that is the end of ALL of us ...

No matter how much knowledge we may, or may not, have of the rest of the Universe.

What have we gained in 50 years of space exploration Torque ?

I don't think WIFI has anything to do with Space exploration TBH ..

I agree.....the Universe is out there waiting for us....it is our destiny
We stay too long on this Earth we will kill ourselves

I'm interested in uranus ebulGery. Been largely untouched to date, but probably too cold for us to inhabit?
