Do you need boxes and cards for kodi, thought you can download everything you need.
You don't need any extra boxes. You can use any device that kodi runs on. It's just easier and quicker to buy boxes with the pirate addons that are being talked about in this thread pre-installed.

Well installing OSMC was simple enough, all went without a problem at all.
Not sure what the difference is to the original Kodi source code to be honest, looking into it a bit more i think it was just a selling point for their VERO-2 streaming box
They made their own skin and added an appstore and some optimisations regarding drivers, ressources and whatnot
In general, OSMC is a full fledged Debian Linux based operating system that simply autostarts into kodi (which is just a software).
On your raspberry pi 3 running osmc you can e.g also run a home webserver, a torrent client, a pyload downloader, an irc bouncer, your own cloud or DNS server, home backup server, NAS server etc. in the background....basically everything you could do with any Debian/Linux device.

Hi Billy, Can you advise if the above process would work to put KODI on an Amazon Firestick? - if there's any difference it would be great if you could point them out - cheers if you can advise, no worries if not
