Not a fan (at all) but kudos to the guy from Muse. Plays guitar to a great level while singing and also plays keys.
Big fan of Annie Clark who manages to make the guitar sound like nothing else on earth at times. |

I'll never forget buying Dry, rushing home to put it on and being absolutely blown away. Saw her live at Barrowland and was, once again, blown away with how much power could be produced by just the three musicians on stage. A two time Mercury prize winner with an incredible body of work. |

Probably true but there is another problem which is quite simply time. To reach the top level in any activity probably takes hours of practice each day. |

In a moment of weakness many years ago, I agreed to attend a Wham! concert (it was, at least, in their pre Last Christmas days) and was subjected to the sight of George and Andrew having a brief badminton match on stage that included hitting shuttlecocks in to the crowd.
It was very clear that neither had given the sport the intense dedication required to be successful. Funnily enough, Andrew's guitar playing suffered from a very similar flaw in commitment. |

Ringo Starr was a great drummer. Lennon makes one jokey comment and the fella's damned to mediocrity for the rest of his career.
Awful singer though. |

Alma Deutscher.
She is new to me this morning though maybe everyone else has seen her on The One Show or similar. An 11-year-old girl from Dorking whose first opera was staged in Vienna this week. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-38467218 In the video, you can tell she has been home-schooled (well, apart from them directly telling us) because she has a slightly odd, slightly foreign accent that presumably comes from her parents rather than television or mixing with other children. |

As part of his in-depth research, Lewisohn also has debunked a humorous knock on Starr’s drumming abilities, long attributed to John Lennon. For decades, people and media outlets have repeated the anecdote about Lennon being asked whether he considered Starr to be the best drummer in the world. The oft-quoted response: “He’s not even the best drummer in the Beatles.”
While it sounds like the kind of acerbic comment that might have come out of Lennon’s mouth, Lewisohn says no. “The London Times newspaper quoted John Lennon ‘famously saying that Ringo wasn’t even the best drummer in the Beatles.’ John Lennon never said that, famously or otherwise, and that is the London Times quoting him,” Lewisohn said, making a point about his motivation for trying to separate fact from Fab Four mythology. “For me, it’s [a case of tracking down] when did he say this? I’ve heard every John Lennon interview, I’ve read every John Lennon interview, I never saw that quote. So when did he say it, let alone when did he famously say it?” he said. “I determined to get to the bottom of it. And it’s actually a TV comedian’s joke from three years after John was killed, in 1983. So John Lennon never said it -- and wouldn’t have said it.” |

That is typical, though - the world is full of sh1t like that. Eg - "Money is the root of all evil" -- No it ain't - The LOVE of money is the root of MUCH evil...and so on...
