Superstar ‘80s musician George Michael died Sunday at the age of 53, according to his publicist.

Mr. Michael, born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in London, first became famous as the frontman of the duo Wham! with partner Andrew Ridgeley.

The pair had a string of #1 hits in the mid-1980s including “Wake Me Up Before You Go Go,” “Careless Whisper” and “Everything She Wants.”

Mr. Michael went on to even more success as a solo act, topping the charts with songs like “Faith,” “Father Figure” and his remake-duet with Elton John of “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.”

By weird coincidence was watching an old TOTP yesterday o the day before.  Wham were on singing Young Gun Go For It and I noticed for the first time that Andrew Ridgely never sung/mimed a note.  Well documented I know but it was basically George Michael and this passenger throwing a few bad dance moves.
Report CLYDEBANK29 December 25, 2016 11:22 PM GMT
When Andrew Ridgely joined in for a few chorus cameos, you could tell it was the old XF trick of drowning out bad singers through the use of strategic backing vocals.

George Michael has died at his home in Oxfordshire.

Michael's publicist said that he had 'passed away peacefully' at his property in Goring at 1.42pm today.

Michael, who was set to release a documentary in 2017, rose to fame as a member of Wham!, known for their hits Club Tropicana and Last Christmas.

In a statement, the star's publicist said: 'It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period.

'The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time. There will be no further comment at this stage.

It was Andrew who was the driving force in the early to get them deals

George had all the talent but Andrew had the front/looks which opened the initial doors

That's why George always stood by him..even long after he went solo

I'm just gutted Sad

.@SkyNews reporting of George Michael's death is appalling, far more focus on the "scandal" than the music.

Was just thinking some celeb usually dies on Christmas day.  Thought the Queen might be the one.

I could have been in the video for Wake me up before you go go but couldn't be bothered to drive to the Brixton Academy.

My fav track is one he didn't write the live version of Killer(Papa was a rolling stone)
