That's a very fair point which I haven't got an honest answer to. One thing that heavy drinking does (or at least I find it does) is that you can make promises to yourself about what you will do tomorrow or whenever but you never keep them.

Sorry Charlie, i don't think it right that you have the last word on this thread that
i started, i'm looking to address my situation in the near future, as you say though
all you/we seem to do is move the goal posts, ie tomorrow / in the new year ect.

Anyway good luck, hope you don't have any recurrence of the pain

Yes, it is a problem - you will eventually die horribly and slowly.  But, if you have no particular reason to live, why not?

This is a bad time of year. Decreasing daylight, the manic horror of Xmas, dampness and decay. But fix your gaze on the not-so-distant glory of the Cheltenham Festival - that's something to live for every year.

Xmas dinner every day?  That's got to be one of the torments of an inner circle of Hell.

Ron, I think the big question here is do you actually want to go teetotal? If the answer is yes I would advise to cut down gradually.

I can sometimes drink far too much when betting largish. I'ts like a crutch when the stalls open or the tapes go up.

I know that's a pitiful excuse but since giving up smoking fifteen years ago I needed something to take the edge off of things.

If you are in any doubt you always have your GP to fall back on.

Do they still do Christmas in London?

I have thought Khan might have banned it by now.

** I forgot to add that your GP is duty bound to help you whether succsessful or not.
