Next time you need your axe to be sharpened, please keep it in a secure place well out of sight of the public, and then take it to an accredited tool-repair professional.

This is perhaps a more sensible strategy than running with your axe at great speed through a busy City Centre, supposedly on the way to your Mam's house to sharpen it, brandishing the axe at police and passers-by as you run. Especially if you have a long criminal record involving weapons. It can result in misunderstandings and a Tasering.

Frustratingly, this sound advice (given in good faith) comes too late to rescue this most vibrant member of the West Midlands community from an admittedly derisory 18 month jail sentence.

Police absolutely useless there. Unarmed member of the public stops him, coppers are close enough to have him, and he runs off again. Laugh

“While we are extremely grateful to the member of public who intervened, this is not something we would advise people do because, as this incident shows, you never know what a fleeing suspect might have on them,” said PC Kelly.

“Thankfully on this occasion, nobody was hurt and the public should be reassured swift action by our officers resulted in an armed criminal being taken off our streets.”  Laugh
