In Germany a 12 yr old iraqi boy has been arrested for trying to blow up people at a christmas market.
Absolutely shocking news, you'd think that would be a major story? You'd THINK!!!

No mention on the Guardian site. No mention of it on the 6pm news.

I'm sure if someone wearing a Trump or Brexit T shirt had yelled at a woman in a headscarf, it would have been covered though.
Well we know that as when things remotely like that happen they DO cover it.

It's almost like they pick the stories according to an agenda, don't you think?

I'd see if C4 news will mention it but it's getting to the point I'd have to paid to watch that shower of smug tw*ts - they've totally given up any balance.

One obvious reason -- besides political correctness gone mad -- for the story not being headline news is that Germany is a foreign country. I expect all sorts of things happen in Germany every day that we never get to hear about.

Ramruma do you seriously think for one second if a German "nazi" boy or an American trump supporter boy had planted something it wouldn't have been a seriously major item on C4 + BBC News? FFS how much coverage have we had over here of supposed trump supporters giving verbal abuse or whatever, and that's a foreign country.

It's about a year since the BBC coverage of the german new year attacks and we all know they at first didn't cover it, then covered it but deliberately didn't mention anything about the perpetrators, when other sections of the media were going mental about it for days!!!

what you fail to understand is that guardian journalists mainly studied social sciences, not maths, hence the understandable 'errors' over numbers of migrants, people facing death in aleppo, voters for Ukip, Brexit etc etc etc

@Just Checking -- American Trump supporter might have made it onto the news -- but because America speaks English and has many news outlets our journalists can watch on satellite telly ... and nick stories from. Germany does not.

Sky News has the story on their web page but you have to scroll down past more than 20 other stories Sky judges more important.

what is shocking is how they suck it all up and present it as not just the news but the TRUTH
you ought to see them carve up the aleppo story the last 10 mins on that alone are an example of mind bendingly false information and one sided presentation

They were just at it on the 1 o clock news.
They have a segment about the survival of the British corner shop, and end it with something like "and with Brexit now a reality, they may face their biggest threat yet".

What the fork???? The BBC is so anti-Brexit it's like they are obsessed!

Why will brexit threaten corner shops? The BBC didn't explain, they just said it did.

Will we need less pints of milk or tins of beens or loaves of bread, when we're all properly "racist"?

Brexit causes cancer you know. And male impotence. BBC says so. FFS.

On a NORMAL day the BBC ans The Guardian will quickly broadcast the news when somebody grabs a muslin woman’s Hijab.

Or as black man being kept off a train by racist Chelsea supporters in Paris.

What about when a muslim sets fire to a woman’s hair because she’s NOT wearing a hijab - in Merkel’s Berlin?

That story is two and a half years old. The man, a hair stylist and craftsperson from Libya, has long been caught and sentenced to three years and three months in prison for the two fire attacks and a bunch of thefts. The sentence was handed to him long before the Daily Star chose to write about it too. It's a bit strange they chose to report about it like a recent event, including saying that police were looking for him, more than two full years after the event, more than a year after he was caught, and about half a year after he was sentenced.

Whether his motive for burning the hair was that the women were not wearing a hijab or not is pure speculation. Even your link says as much in its text. Could be, could not have been. He didn't share his motives in front of the court. The judges spoke about frustration with women in their sentence.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/12/16/boy-12-attempted-blow-nail-bomb-german-christmas-market/

In the first incident on Nov 26, the boy is suspected of planting the device in a traditional Christmas market, hidden in a backpack.

When it failed to go off, prosecutors believe he tried again just over a week later, planting the backpack outside the town hall on December 5.

On the second occasion the backpack was spotted by a passerby who reported it to the police. Inside, they found a glass jar packed with nails.
