Yep. Absolutely stunning. Richard Attenborough would have been proud of Tim's performance.
Report RLKingPunter • December 13, 2016 10:42 PM GMT
Very very similar to Attenborough and that's a big compliment, ive always liked the film and this 3 part serial was excellent.

Tim Roth at the peak of his powers
Report sixtwosix • December 14, 2016 10:18 AM GMT
He was excellent ,as was the programme .....apart from the liberal beeb's addition of Christie , his wife and the policeman all using racist language .......not a part of the story I have ever heard before.
Report SlippyBlue • December 14, 2016 12:11 PM GMT
Excellent performance, he lived three doors down from me when we were kids, he was a really nice person.

It was the fifties, conversations like that were the norm as they were in the sixties and beyond
Report BARROWBOY • December 14, 2016 2:41 PM GMT
yeh different times, suppose they put the conversation in to give a flavour of the times.remember my old mum telling me that when they were kids playing out if a black guy walked down the street their parents used to take em indoors.

Saw an episode from an Itv series last night(bored nowt sport on)
and a missing bloke was described as mixed race on the missing list prog set around 1975

Must admit had never heard of mixed race until around 1990 myself but did have a sheltered upbringing Wink
Report Percy Filth • December 14, 2016 2:49 PM GMT
Mixed race was the term used to replace "half-caste" as it was seen as offensive.
Report wit-ham • December 14, 2016 3:00 PM GMT
Yes Percy i know but when?the prog was set in mid seventies
was MR used then or HC,as said i had not heard the term MR
until the 90's.
Report Percy Filth • December 14, 2016 3:05 PM GMT
Not sure when, I just remember describing someone as half-caste many years ago and getting told off for it.
Report wit-ham • December 14, 2016 3:15 PM GMT
Same here Percy that's when i heard the phrase MR for the first time
Report Hound-Dog-2 • December 14, 2016 4:03 PM GMT
Tim Roth was brilliant at portraying him, but all the actors were so good in it, the gloom of the house and very chilling atmosphere made it very tense. The first 2 parts were a slow build to a third part that was creepy as hell.
Report sixtwosix • December 14, 2016 4:37 PM GMT
They were all well acted roles , but the man playing Timothy Evans was not in the same acting division as the performance of John Hurt.
Report donny osmond • December 14, 2016 4:50 PM GMT
i've never seen christie, but roth did a great impression of attenborough
Report Burton-Brewers • December 14, 2016 5:01 PM GMT
sorry he couldn't hold a candle to Arthur Mullard.
Report Hound-Dog-2 • December 14, 2016 7:27 PM GMT
".... Timothy Evans was not in the same acting division as the performance of John Hurt."

Maybe not, but thought he still portrayed him very well, in real life Evans was dim-witted with an IQ of 70. Had problems growing up which caused him to miss a lot of school and could barely read or write, also became a heavy drinker, and the police got a false confession out of him when he was pressured and confused.
