Yep. Absolutely stunning. Richard Attenborough would have been proud of Tim's performance.

He was excellent ,as was the programme .....apart from the liberal beeb's addition of Christie , his wife and the policeman all using racist language .......not a part of the story I have ever heard before.

It was the fifties, conversations like that were the norm as they were in the sixties and beyond

yeh different times, suppose they put the conversation in to give a flavour of the times.remember my old mum telling me that when they were kids playing out if a black guy walked down the street their parents used to take em indoors.

Saw an episode from an Itv series last night(bored nowt sport on)
and a missing bloke was described as mixed race on the missing list prog set around 1975

Must admit had never heard of mixed race until around 1990 myself but did have a sheltered upbringing Wink

Mixed race was the term used to replace "half-caste" as it was seen as offensive.

Yes Percy i know but when?the prog was set in mid seventies

Not sure when, I just remember describing someone as half-caste many years ago and getting told off for it.

Tim Roth was brilliant at portraying him, but all the actors were so good in it, the gloom of the house and very chilling atmosphere made it very tense. The first 2 parts were a slow build to a third part that was creepy as hell.

They were all well acted roles , but the man playing Timothy Evans was not in the same acting division as the performance of John Hurt.

".... Timothy Evans was not in the same acting division as the performance of John Hurt."

Maybe not, but thought he still portrayed him very well, in real life Evans was dim-witted with an IQ of 70. Had problems growing up which caused him to miss a lot of school and could barely read or write, also became a heavy drinker, and the police got a false confession out of him when he was pressured and confused.
