Diane Abbott is Shadow Home Secretary to an unelectable leader in Corbyn.
They have been "friends" for years.
Abbott is embarrassing, bumbling and defiant in her role as demonstrated on Marr this morning.
She believes Labour are about to "close the gap" based on nothing but hollow words.
Below her in the pecking order are sneering hard lefties like Jess Phillips MP for Birmingham Yardley  who claimed the New Years Eve attacks in Cologne were no worse than you'd see on Broad Street on a Saturday night.
The Labour Party is dead, the deluded or frightened few in this Party are unable to implement change and the only people who are happy for things to continue are the shadow cabinet and the Conservative party who would be happy for this shambolic  exactly where they are, especially Corbyn, McDonald and Abbott.

whats your thoughts on kezia - federal union

Was impressed with Kezia when she first made an appearance as the Labour leader in Scotland but have went off her.
Doesn't know what stance to take and even supports indy at times. Her backtracking on Corbyn didn't help her cause either.
Another hopeful career politician with little substance.
As regards the federal union would need to see much more of the detail to form an opinion.

As the original poster on this thread I would point out that mine wasn't a political statement as such.
The Tories are certainties to win the next election as their own following will back them which is fair enough.
It's unfortunate that there isn't any remotely healthy opposition as the Labour Party as it stands have disenfranchised themselves from their own true members who have been replaced by the Corbenista who are anti-Semitic champagne socialists who do not and will never represent the working class.
Their figureheads are an embarrassment to the party and it's utterly impossible to take any party seriously with Dianne Abbott in such a lofty position based on her links with a hapless mess of a leader.
The Labour hierarchy would rather live in a deluded bubble where they surround themselves with a few likeminded self riteous suits who seem oblivious to the fact they are wholly u popular with their very own core vote.
None of this is healthy unless you are a Tory inwhich you'll say nothing and just win the next election by default.

"Concerns about immigration"? Where does that come from?

The media keep saying:

"People are expressing concerns about immigration
People are expressing concerns about immigration
People are expressing concerns about immigration"

If you are registered as non-dom you can run a business
in the UK but pay no tax. This costs us billions.

"People are expressing concerns about immigration."

If the government cuts public services, they increase
pressure on public services.

"People are expressing concerns about immigration."

Since 1980, wealth has shifted from labour to capital.
In other words those that 'have', have more; those that
have the least, have less. Those that have the least
have given wealth to those that have more.

"People are expressing concerns about immigration"

The government regularly announces that it freezes
the wages of public service workers. This means that
people can afford less. Their living standards decline.

"People are expressing concerns about immigration"

The government has repeatedly brought in policies
which have helped to increase the price of houses.
The proportion of people's income required to rent or buy
has steadily risen. Flats and houses cost more to live in.
There is less space per pound of people's income.

"People are expressing concerns about immigration"

Some people do not know that the main reasons for their
standard of living to go down are nothing to do with immigration.
Instead, they keep hearing:

"People are expressing concerns about immigration."

You know what happens next?

some people express some concern about immigration.
After all, people can only think what they think
based on available information.
The media supply the available information.
They keep saying:

'People are expressing concerns about immigration."

The government laughs quietly to itself:
"People do not blame us for their living standards going down,
they blame immigration."

Report xmoneyx December 12, 2016 10:24 AM GMT
The plight of the UK’s working poor has been revealed in a report which shows that one in every eight workers is living in poverty.

A study by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation said that a record high of 55% of people in poverty are in working households, showing a “growing insecurity underneath positive economic headlines”.

The report found that that 21% of the population are living in poverty - doubling the UK’s poor in a decade.
Report Dr Crippen December 12, 2016 10:42 AM GMT
If a country like the UK that's going into debt to survive keeps importing poor people, then that country is going to end up with more people living in poverty.

And services that were designed to accommodate these people who don't pay their own way, like the NHS, welfare and education will be inadequate to cope with the extra numbers.

So it's no surprise that this kind of immigration leads to lower standards of living for the poor, because there is simply less to go around.

Report Dr Crippen December 12, 2016 11:58 AM GMT
I believe it's Labour's refusal to see immigration from the eyes of the electorate that has cost them so many votes.

Then along came Brexit to strengthen the perception of Labour wanting one thing and their traditional supporters wanting another.

I see no hope for the Labour party. Certainly not until their stance on immigration has been resolved to the satisfaction of ordinary people.
And that isn't going to happen with the likes of Khan and Abbott with their feet firmly under the table.

I'm afraid the Labour party as the majority once knew it has gone.
The supporters they have left just don't realise it yet.
Report saddo December 12, 2016 12:04 PM GMT

so most or all of our problems are down to immigration?

i dont think so.

there wasnt a problem pre crisis..in fact our economy boomed off the back of immigration.
id say it was propped up after the crisis too..especially if you compare how others suffered.

a growing population contributes to growth...so id say if we didnt have them we would have been a lot worse off.

the problem lies with tory policies.
ie..cuts when they should have been building.
they could have controlled house prices which would have greatly helped the econony...but chose not to.
they could have used stamp duty on higher priced houses to raise money to build.

they have caused this problem not immigration.
Report saddo December 12, 2016 12:49 PM GMT
Blair could have ensured that the immigration began with a trickle and provided houses, schools, hospitals etc were built as numbers increased. He did not and we got most of the migrants from 6 countries because they could go nowhere else en masse. A huge mistake and no attempt to correct it was ever made. The Tories simply inherited his mess.
